Job Description: Residential Solar Installer

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Residential Solar Installer to join our team. This role involves the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of residential solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on construction or electrical experience, a strong work ethic, and a passion for renewable energy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble, install, and maintain residential solar PV systems according to design specifications, codes, and safety standards.

  • Safely load, transport, and unload solar equipment and materials.

  • Mount solar panels, inverters, and other system components on rooftops and/or ground structures.

  • Use hand and power tools, measuring devices, and testing equipment to complete installations.

  • Ensure proper wiring, grounding, and electrical connections in compliance with NEC (National Electrical Code) and local regulations.

  • Conduct quality control checks, system tests, and troubleshooting as required.

  • Work collaboratively with project managers, electricians, and other crew members to complete projects on schedule.

  • Follow OSHA and company safety guidelines at all times.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (technical training or certification preferred).

  • Prior experience in solar installation, roofing, construction, or electrical work strongly desired.

  • Basic knowledge of electrical systems and construction practices.

  • Ability to work at heights, on rooftops, and in varying weather conditions.

  • Physical ability to lift 50+ pounds, climb ladders, and perform manual labor.

  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.

  • NABCEP (North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners) certification is a plus.

Skills

  • Familiarity with power tools and construction equipment.

  • Understanding of safety protocols and OSHA compliance.

  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.

  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.

Work Environment
