JOB SUMMARY:
This role is in-office, Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM in Costa Mesa, CA. We are looking for a Construction Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the design, planning, and execution of electric vehicle charging station projects. This role involves ensuring that all installations comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and client specifications. This role will be working closely with the design and engineering teams.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
● Lead the planning, design, and execution of EVSE construction projects.
● Coordinate with clients, contractors, and internal teams to ensure project requirements are met.
● Develop project schedules, manage timelines, and monitor progress to ensure on-time completion.
● Conduct site assessments to determine the feasibility and optimal placement of EV charging stations.
● Oversee site preparation, including trenching, electrical conduit installation, and concrete work.
● Create detailed engineering plans and specifications for EVSE installations.
● Ensure designs comply with local, state, and national codes and standards.
● Collaborate with electrical engineers to integrate EVSE with existing electrical infrastructure.
● Supervise construction activities to ensure adherence to design specifications and safety standards.
● Inspect installations and troubleshoot issues to ensure the functionality and reliability of EVSE.
● Coordinate with utility companies for electrical service upgrades and interconnections.
● Implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure high standards of workmanship.
● Develop and enforce safety protocols to protect workers and the public.
● Conduct final inspections and testing to verify the proper operation and safety of installed EVSE.
● Maintain detailed records of project progress, including site reports, inspection logs, and as-built drawings.
● Prepare and submit regular project status reports to management and clients.
● Ensure all necessary permits and documentation are obtained and filed appropriately.
QUALIFICATIONS:
● Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
● Previous experience in construction project coordination or related roles, with exposure to electrical or infrastructure projects preferred.
● SMARTSHEETS a plus
● Highly curious, creative, and motivated individual with the ability to work in a fast and dynamic work environment
● Ability to prioritize large numbers of projects at one time
● Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to listen, interpret, and communicate effectively with on-the-ground construction teams as well as other office members
● Competency or proficiency in Smartsheet (Sys Ad certificate is a huge +), Google Docs and Sheets, and ability to navigate Fieldwide (Project Management tool)
● Ability to work individually and as part of a team at the same competency and pace.
Education and Experience:
● Proficient in engaging effectively with individuals at all levels, including C-level
executives.
● Knowledge of construction processes, safety regulations, and building codes.
● Process-oriented; with experience in developing a process to keep track of multiple projects at one time. From scheduling meetings to capturing the next steps and efficiency improvements, all the way to the time of delivery/completion
● Construction industry experience is a must.
● Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in construction project management, preferably in EVSE or electrical infrastructure projects preferred.
● Experience multitasking, and working in a fast-paced, demanding environment
● Excellent spelling, grammar, and editing skills required
● Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills required
● Ability to perform well independently as well as part of a team
● Ability to develop strong relationships with all levels of employees
Physical Requirements:
● Stand, walk, sit, talk, hear, type, and write.
● Reach with hands and arms, bend, stand on a stool, or climb, and use fingers and hands to feel objects, tools, or controls.
● Use standard office equipment such as computers, smartphones, printers, photocopiers, etc.
● Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
● Lift files and open desk drawers and filing cabinets.
