HVAC Building Automation Technician – New Construction / Startup

Yates Company, LLC is a trusted leader in Building Automation and HVAC Controls across South Texas. We’re expanding our Construction Division and looking for a skilled and motivated HVAC Building Automation Technician to help bring new facilities online with state-of-the-art control systems.

What You’ll Do

  • Support start-up, checkout, and commissioning of HVAC control systems including chillers, boilers, AHUs, VAVs, and VFDs.
  • Load and verify BAS programs, graphics, and point mapping (Carrier i-Vu, Niagara, and others).
  • Collaborate closely with Project Managers, electricians, and mechanical teams to ensure a coordinated installation.
  • Perform device calibration and functional testing to verify operation per sequence of control.
  • Document field changes and communicate updates to project management and engineering.
  • Represent Yates Company professionally on active construction sites and in front of customers.


What We’re Looking For

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in BAS installation, startup, or commissioning (preferred).
  • Familiarity with Carrier i-Vu, Niagara, Automated Logic, or Innotech systems a plus.
  • Working knowledge of BACnet networks and control wiring best practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and control schematics.
  • Strong attention to detail, self-motivated work ethic, and commitment to doing the job right.
  • Comfortable working in construction environments with other trades.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
