Position Overview

The Director, Partnerships (SMS) will identify, negotiate, and manage strategic partnerships that expand Xpansiv’s global environmental market footprint. This includes initiatives such as launching new carbon compliance markets, building I-REC or renewable attribute marketplaces with local issuers, integrating new registries into Xpansiv Connect™, and establishing exchange, government, and corporate partnerships. This role serves as a commercial lead and primary relationship owner for high-impact external partners across the energy-transition ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, structure, and secure strategic partnerships across carbon, REC/I-REC, water, fuels, and power markets
  • Develop commercial proposals and lead end-to-end negotiation processes
  • Drive partnerships such as new carbon compliance exchanges or local I-REC marketplaces
  • Oversee integration of new registries, exchanges, and data partners into Xpansiv Connect™ via open APIs
  • Own executive-level partner relationships and ensure long-term alignment
  • Coordinate with Product, Engineering, Market Operations, Legal, and Commercial teams on execution
  • Monitor global environmental market developments and inform SMS strategy
  • Represent Xpansiv in meetings, working groups, and market development forums


Required Qualifications

  • 8-12+ years of experience in environmental commodities, exchanges, registries, or related infrastructure
  • Proven success developing and closing complex partnerships
  • Deep understanding of environmental markets including carbon, RECs/I-RECs, and attribute tracking systems
  • Strong commercial negotiation, relationship management, and project leadership skills
  • Ability to collaborate across technical, operational, and executive teams

Base Salary

Compensation for this role will vary among specific regions due to geographic differentials in the labor market, actual pay will be determined considering factors such as relevant skills and experience, knowledge, education and training. However, compensation in NY region is expected to be as follows:

$150,000 -$175,000
