Environmental Health Safety Specialist

We are excited to announce the opening of our new Technology headquarters in Mesa, Arizona in 2025. This expansion reflects our commitment to growth and innovation in the climate solutions industry. As part of this expansion in the US, XNRGY is seeking a qualified HSE Specialist to join its team full-time. Reporting to the Arizona HSE Manager, the HSE Specialist will get the opportunity to experience refining a brand new 265,000 sqft facility. In addition, you will be responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of an ISO Based Health, Safety, and Environmental Management System.
An overview of your responsibilities:
- System and Program Development: Implement, and maintain our HSE System along with policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Training and Education: Develop and maintain our HSE learning and development program for all employees.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with production, engineering, and HR departments to promote a culture of safety and health throughout the organization.
- Risk Assessment: review and generate risk assessments and safety audits to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks.
- Incident Investigation: Lead and assist in the investigation of workplace incidents, and near misses; analyze root causes and implement corrective measures.
- Compliance Monitoring: Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations, and maintain necessary documentation and reporting.
- Emergency Response Planning: Assist in Development and implementation of emergency response plans and education to ensure employee preparedness for emergencies.
- Sustainability Initiatives: Promote and implement environmental sustainability initiatives within the manufacturing process.
- Onsite Safety Resource: Serve as a day to day resource in ensuring the safety and health of the employees during routine and non-routine tasks
What you'll need, among other things!
- an HSE-related Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree
Associate’s Degree: 5-10+ years of experience in Health & Safety in a manufacturing industry
Bachelor’s/Master's Degree: 2-5+ years of experience in a manufacturing industry
Related degree fields: Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science/Management, Industrial Hygiene, Safety Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering
- Strong Written, Verbal and Interpersonal Communication Skills
Must be proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite & Android/iOS
- Experience Working in Dynamic and Fast Paced Manufacturing Operations
HVAC, Aerospace, Automotive, Industrial Machinery preferable
- Working Knowledge and Experience Implementing CFR1910, CFR1926
Especially Forklift/PIV, Lockout-Tagout, contractor safety, Fall Protection and PPE selection
- Comprehensive and technical knowledge of the following aspects is essential
Ergonomics, Occupational Medicine, Occupational Hygiene, Behavior-Based Safety,
ISO 14001/ISO 45001 familiarity, HSE Auditing and a clear understanding and interpretation of HSE laws and regulations
- Experience Generating Training and Written Programs
What we Appreciate!
- Third Party Certification from BCSP is highly desired (e.g., ASP, GSP, TSP, CSP)
- Experience with Hand Tools, Ladders, Machine Guarding, Fire Inspections, and Signage Generation
- Experience in CFR 40 and Other Relevant Environmental Regulations
- Experience with OSHA VPP program or ISO 14001/45001 Certification
- Experience in air permitting, waste characterizations, RCRA regulations, EPCRA regulations, TSCA requirements
- Ability to lead and influence a diverse workforce
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Bilingual (Spanish or French)
