Grounded in Indigenous knowledge and community-led conservation, WWF-Pacific works with partners to deliver nature-based solutions, strengthen community governance, and promote inclusive blue-green economies. By 2030, all Pacific peoples and nations are empowered, climate resilient and prosperous, with nature thriving and visibly and measurably recovering - a People and Nature Positive Pacific.
The Great Sea Reef, also known as ‘Cakaulevu’, is Fiji's largest barrier reef and the third-longest continuous barrier reef system in the world. It is a vital ecosystem for both biodiversity and the local economy, providing essential habitats for endangered marine life and serving as a major source of food and income for Fijians. The reef is currently threatened by climate change, overfishing, and pollution.
WWF’s work in the Great Sea Reef (GSR) region supports Fiji’s climate adaptation and biodiversity goals through the restoration and conservation of mangroves, coral reefs, and critical marine corridors. GSR Programme expands over a variety of initiatives from Disaster Risk Resilience and Mitigation to building Social Community enterprises and empowering Community leaders to be Champions of Climate efforts. We are further expanding with our scope of work and therefore are seeking a highly motivated, dynamic and forward-thinking individual with a passion for driving the core objectives and vision of WWF with our work with the communities.
Additional Responsibilities.
Volunteer & Stakeholder Coordination
Coordinate WWF Volunteers and support stakeholder consultations, ensuring alignment with programme objectives and fostering collaboration across communities, government agencies, and partners.
Capacity Building & Professional Development
Demonstrate commitment to continuous learning by completing mandatory WWF training and engaging in relevant capacity-building opportunities.

- MAJOR FUNCTIONS
- The Project Officer will provide technical, administrative, and operational support to the Great Sea Reef (GSR) Programme, contributing to the effective planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of project activities. The role will involve coordinating with government agencies, project partners, and local communities, conducting research and data analysis, supporting field operations, and ensuring the timely delivery of project outputs in line with organizational and donor requirements.
- The Incumbent will be required to support the GSR Team and Programme Manager with Project Activity implementation as well as contributing to Project Activity planning including Project Consultations as well as Field Logistics. The Project Officer will support the WWF Volunteers in aligning GSR Programme of work to their Annual Plan of work and continue to provide an advisory role to the Volunteers

- PROFILE.
- A degree, in marine science or related field.
- At least three (3) years’ work experience in a marine or conservation related field.
- Relevant experience in project coordination, administration, or programme management.
- Experience working with multiple stakeholders and managing competing priorities.
- Knowledge of project management principles and methodologies is desirable.
- Demonstrated field work experience in a conservation project.
- Basic knowledge and application of GIS and use of Google maps.
- Demonstrated ability to write field reports.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team.
- Understanding of community protocols and practices.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with a multi-disciplinary team.
- Have flexible approach and a willingness to work outside normal hours
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Access.

- WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
- Works closely with the Programme Manager and GSR Team to effectively deliver
- Works closely with ESSF and GEDSI personnel to support project implementation.
- On a needs basis, works with Administration, Finance, Communications, M&E & HR to support project implementation, communication, reporting and capacity building.
- On a need’s basis, works with WWF network staff to ensure an awareness of project actions, progress and developments.
- Work with the GSR Programme to build and maintain relationships with key project and programme partners, NGOs, donors, CROP agencies, scientific/academic bodies, government and community heads and businesses.
