Senior Technical Manager- Civil Engineer (Renewables)
This Opportunity WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Technical Manager- Civil Engineer (Renewables) to be involved in our Power & Energy projects within our Site Development Civil Team- Renewable Energy in Cincinnati, OH . Your Impact Drive renewable energy site develop project which emphasis on Solar, Wind, and BESS facilities along with supporting behind the meter generation for commercial and industrial clients.
Determine well-defined methods for collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the physical work site, surveys, blueprints, GIS data, subsurface utility information, maps, hydrologic analysis, geotechnical data, and other matrices for project development, design, and construction.
Perform professional civil engineering work and conduct research and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, resources, building, infrastructure, and transportation channels to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, and construction or operating permits.
Lead development of sites and permitting plans for various projects within the energy sector including electrical transmission, solar and onshore wind projects.
Lead development of civil, erosion and sediment control, drainage/stormwater and utility designs.
Lead development of permit application documents, engineering design plans, specifications, reports and cost estimates.
Management of staff and day-to-day operations.
This position requires field visits to local sites and the potential for a small amount of overnight travel.
Coordinate with clients and governmental agencies to fulfill the needs of the project and acquire all necessary permits or approvals
Oversee development and scoping of medium-sized projects.
Provide guidance and training to entry-level engineers.
Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients in a confident and professional manner.
Remain current in latest civil engineering techniques and practices.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or closely related discipline.
Licensed Professional Engineer, Texas, Ohio, Illinois preferred, NCEES record a plus
10+ years of relevant post education experience in renewable energy engineering and prior civil design experience.
Exceptional leadership and communication skills required.
Excellent interpersonal skills, teamwork, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Project management and task management skills
Proficiency in work execution and team building experience required
Strong knowledge of site grading, stormwater, and erosion and sedimentation controls for renewable energy projects is required
Understanding of stormwater permitting (NPDES). Multi-state knowledge a plus.
Strong knowledge of relevant civil construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
Leading and defining technical computations and calculations involving the application of engineering principles, understanding plans and specifications, and making factual comparisons to the appropriate regulations.
Project management experience with mid-level to large projects including tracking hours and expenses for project work.
Effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
Highly capable independent, self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
Developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to apply technical knowledge to reach conclusions from testing results, data collation, statistical analysis and arriving at the most effective, economical, and logical solution.
Ability to assertively direct others to consistently complete tasks safely and efficiently.
This position has the potential for a small amount of travel.
This position may require fieldwork, sometimes in rugged terrain.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Preferred Qualifications:

Previous staff management experience
Master’s Degree in Engineering.
Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D Software Suite
Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D/LDD and familiarity with grading and earthwork concepts.

Compensation:
Expected Salary (all locations): $150,000 - $175,000
