Due to anticipated growth resulting from a strong pipeline of work being secured, we are currently looking to engage a Project Consultant – Sustainability and Climate Change to join our New South Wales team.

This role is involved across all aspects of sustainability consultancy. You will support a high performing local & national team, have the opportunity to contribute to strategic bids, business development activities and gain exposure to high level conceptual project strategies.

Our Australian Sustainability team come from a diverse background including engineers, architects, renewable energy specialists, environmental scientists and economists. We work across all WSP’s sectors including projects like Sydney Metro, High Speed Rail, Major Precinct Renewals, University Campuses, Schools, Data Centers and many other complex and highly ambitious projects. Our clients are private, government, not for profits and institutional.

Key Responsibilities – What You’ll Do

  • Work on iconic buildings & infrastructure projects;
  • Handle deliverables for medium scale projects or parts of larger projects;
  • Contributing to project planning, project management, budgeting and controls;
  • Liaising with clients and suppliers to develop project briefings and sourcing information;
  • Applying a deep understanding of sustainability/ESD principles to solve complex problems, particularly on decarbonization of infrastructure assets;
  • Producing designs and reports to meet client requirements for projects
  • Present at and contribute to client meetings and workshops.

About You - Required Experience & Skills

  • Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent sustainability related discipline;
  • Minimum 4+ years industry experience as a Sustainability Consultant or similar role, preferably with specific experience with building or infrastructure design and delivery experience;
  • Demonstrated experience in project leadership on small and medium scale sustainability focussed projects.
  • Experience with best practice certification schemes, relevant schemed we prefer experience with are Green Star, NABERS, NatHERS, BASIX, ISC IS ratings;
  • Exposure across undertaking technical analysis covering various aspects, such as, energy, water and waste modelling; climate resilience and life-cycle analysis.
  • Basic theoretical knowledge of engineering/scientific principles to analyse, interpret and conclude project requirements and challenges;
  • Passionate about developing solutions for a low carbon, sustainable built environment;
  • Familiarity with IES, First Rate or HERO software desirable;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
