What you will do:
- Support delivery of sustainability, climate action, and resiliency projects for public and private sector clients locally and nationally.
- Develop, analyze, and visualize sustainability metrics, including greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories, lifecycle assessments, carbon sequestration analyses, emissions reduction “wedge” analyses, climate vulnerability assessments, and sustainability dashboards.
- Support and/or lead qualitative and quantitative research, including literature reviews, desktop research, cost-benefit analyses, spatial analysis, and emissions modeling.
- Contribute to the development of climate action plans, sustainability plans, and climate vulnerability and risk assessments for local and Tribal government clients.
- Synthesize complex technical data into clear and compelling deliverables, including reports, memoranda, presentations, fact sheets, and digital dashboards for diverse audiences.
- Assist with equitable and inclusive public engagement activities such as workshops, open houses, public meetings, and virtual engagement efforts.
- Support business development activities, including proposal development, client meetings, conferences, and professional events.
- Represent WSB with professionalism and provide a high level of client service.
- May remain in stationary position for extended periods.
- Bachelor's degree in Sustainability, Environmental Policy, Data Science, Political Science, or a related field and 2-3+ years of relevant professional experience demonstrating increasing responsibility.
- Applying data analytics to environmental and sustainability datasets (e.g., GHG emissions, energy usage, demographics).
- Experience conducting environmental or sustainability-related research, including both qualitative and quantitative methods.
- Experience developing data visualizations, dashboards, and graphics to communicate complex information.
- Intermediate to advanced ability in Excel, Photoshop, GIS and/or Power BI
- Working knowledge of statistics and data-driven decision-making concepts.
- Must be able to work onsite at a WSB office as needed dependent on the project or client.
- Travel or field visits may be required to support project needs.
- Qualifications that place you at the higher end of the pay scale:
- Master’s degree and 1-2+ years of relevant experience.
- Written and spoken Spanish language proficiency.
- Experience in local government, corporate sustainability, or consulting environments.
- Familiarity with GHG inventory protocols and tools such as ICLEI ClearPath, the U.S. Community Protocol, and related standards.
- Demonstrated public speaking or presentation experience with technical subject matter.
- Prior experience working with underserved or disadvantaged communities.
