About The Project

India's green hydrogen ecosystem is at an inflection point. Spanning production, storage, transportation, and end-use applications, from industrial decarbonisation to e-fuels to maritime transition, it is one of the most complex and consequential energy transition challenges India faces in this decade.

Job Highlight

This role is for someone who can help build the analytical and policy foundations for that transition. The person will work across the green hydrogen value chain, with a current and growing focus on e-fuels and their applications, such as green methanol, green ammonia, and maritime decarbonisation as a significant use case. They will produce the research, modelling, and written outputs that enable leadership to engage credibly with government, industry, and international bodies on these themes.

This is an independent, ownership-oriented role. The successful candidate will be expected to define the right questions, design the right frameworks, and deliver high-quality outputs with strategic direction but without close supervision.

What You Will Do

  • Build and maintain the organisation's knowledge base on the green hydrogen ecosystem — covering production pathways, storage and transportation, demand sectors, and the emerging e-fuels economy (green methanol, green ammonia, e-kerosene, and derivatives)
  • Develop and own quantitative models, including techno-economic analyses, cost trajectory assessments, scenario models, and demand-supply frameworks across different segments of the green hydrogen value chain
  • Conduct deep-dive analysis on specific end-use sectors where green hydrogen and its derivatives are most consequential
  • Track and interpret global cost curves, technology readiness levels, and infrastructure developments relevant to green hydrogen scaling
  • Analyse the Indian policy landscape for green hydrogen, the National Green Hydrogen Mission, production-linked incentives, sectoral demand mandates, and financing instruments and identify gaps between ambition and implementation
  • Track and assess international regulatory developments that create demand signals or compliance pressures for green hydrogen derivatives
  • Develop policy briefs, regulatory analysis notes, and position papers that translate complex regulatory environments into clear implications for the Indian industry and government

Written & Knowledge Output

  • Translate modelling outputs and regulatory analysis into clear, compelling narratives for varied audiences: ministry officials, port and industry leadership, financing institutions, and international organisations
  • Produce publication-ready research reports, working papers, policy briefs, and presentation decks
  • Maintain and advance ongoing research documents, resolving open analytical questions, integrating inputs, and ensuring outputs are internally consistent and externally credible

Essential

What We Are Looking For

  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience spanning green hydrogen or low-carbon fuels, climate or infrastructure economics, maritime or industrial decarbonisation, or regulatory analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to build structured quantitative models; the specific domain is less important than analytical rigour; someone who has built serious financial, scenario, or techno-economic models in any sector will adapt
  • Strong working knowledge of India's energy and climate policy landscape
  • The ability to produce reports and briefs that are precise, well-argued, and accessible to non-specialist readers

Preferred

  • A degree in a relevant field: engineering, technology policy, economics, or an MBA with an energy or sustainability focus, preferably from a Tier -1 academic institution
  • Enough grounding in how green hydrogen technologies work to engage credibly with technical material, combined with the analytical fluency to translate that understanding into modelling and policy-relevant outputs
  • Familiarity with international regulations or other sectoral decarbonisation regulatory frameworks
  • Experience producing outputs for or engaging with government ministries, regulatory bodies, or multilateral organisations
  • Background in a consultancy, think tank, policy research institution, or development finance organisation

Potential Salary and Benefits: INR 9,50,000 to 12,00,000 LPA
