Program Overview For Climate Economics And Finance (CEF)

The Climate, Economics, and Finance (CEF) Program uses cutting-edge analysis, innovative tools, and real-world implementation to inform India’s low-carbon transition—one that is technologically viable, economically sensible, socially inclusive, and nature-positive.

Internship Highlights

WRI India is looking for intern(s) to join our Climate, Economics, and Finance (CEF) team. This individual will primarily support in analysing subnational climate action through political economy analysis and collect data for energy-economy models and climate finance. This internship is open to Masters students seeking academic credit.

What You Will Do

  • Collect data from primary and secondary sources for energy-economy models and climate finance/budget analysis for one-two selected states in India
  • Track policy announcements in key sectors relevant to climate action in the selected state(s)
  • Conduct political economy analysis of sectoral climate action in the selected states
  • Support the team in progress reporting, presentations, and documenting case studies, field reports, etc.
  • Support the team in conducting stakeholder consultations and outreach events

What You Will Need

  • Pursuing a Master’s course from a reputed university in climate change, sustainability, public policy, development studies, or any other related subjects.
  • Minimum 0-1 years of work experience/internships in a relevant field.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English, Hindi, and/or other Indian languages.
  • Strong coordination, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders and manage parallel tasks effectively.
  • Good research, documentation, and analytical skills, including ability to synthesize information clearly.
  • Have knowledge of government databases, national and state-level data
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); Python or R or any modelling tool is an advantage
  • Prior internship, academic project, or experience related to program coordination, training, research, or communications is preferred

Stipend: Rs 25,000 per month

Location: Bengaluru/Mumbai/Delhi

Duration: 6 Months, extendable up to 10 months

Start date: 01 July 2026
