UK Nature Restoration Project Manager (Fixed-Term to July 2024)

Job description
As someone with a record of delivering successful conservation projects this is a fantastic opportunity to shape the future of our planet by helping create an environment where people and nature can thrive.

We are facing a climate and nature emergency. Nature, our life support system, is being lost at an alarming rate and we have a short window to reverse this. Our UK Landscapes and Seascapes Team is working to make this change happen. They are involved in supporting the development of two ‘flagship’ restoration projects – one in Pembrokeshire in West Wales and the other in Norfolk, East Anglia. They are designed to demonstrate that is it possible to produce food sustainably, restore nature and sequester carbon. They will show how interventions on land can support freshwater and coastal restoration. This is a unique opportunity to become the Project Manager in Norfolk.

As UK Nature Restoration Project Manager, you will collaborate with team members, external partners, funders and WWF colleagues to ensure the development of a vision that is co-created with the local community and its implementation. This will involve co-creating an action plan and programme of projects to deliver on it. We will look to you to create project roadmaps, assess risk, control budgets and monitor and report progress. Important will be the ability to oversee activities to ensure milestones are achieved within agreed timescales. You will consolidate existing working relationships in Norfolk and involve new audiences too. You will also collaborate with colleagues to produce materials and content to showcase projects as well as identify and secure further funding opportunities for the Norfolk project.

To join the fight for our planet, you must have successfully delivered conservation projects and programmes to time, budget and quality standards. You will have been involved in community development too. Used to monitoring and evaluating delivery, you will be experienced in bringing together a wide range of stakeholders and creating a culture of collaborative working. Critically, you will possess a good understanding of Project Management principles and practices. This will be supported by an awareness of rural and conservation policy as well as protected landscape and environmental policy. You will also have in-depth knowledge of biodiversity and habitats, climate mitigation and adaptation and social issues in relation to land management. A strategic thinker, you will possess strong communication and influencing skills, plus the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.

If you possess strong project management skills and are enthusiastic about making our world a better place through your work, we would love to hear from you. Please click on the link and apply via our website by submitting a copy of your up-to-date CV and the Supporting Statement to highlight what makes you a good fit for us.

Every role at WWF is open to applications from all sections of society. We believe in the potential of everyone regardless of; race, religion or belief, ethnic origin, different physical ability, family structure, socio-economics, age, nationality or citizenship, marital, domestic or civil partnership, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other aspect that makes you, well you. Here at WWF we’re committed to conscious inclusion that helps cultivate an ethos of belonging, connection and shared purpose. We believe that the more diverse we are the better we become; this brings us together and empowers us to develop, engage and inspire; and critically to help build a future where people can live in harmony with nature.

Our policies and benefits reflect the importance of people being able to have a good work-life balance and being able to bring their ‘full self’ to work.

Our world needs you like never before. We are the first generation to know we are destroying the world and we could be the last that can do anything about it. We’re looking for people who are passionate about making it politically, socially and economically unacceptable to destroy our planet’s natural resources. We need you to join us in the fight for our world.
