Senior Policy Advisor - Sustainable Finance

Job description
This is a UK based contract and as such, you are required to have the Right to Work in the UK. Evidence of your Right to Work will be checked prior to interview.

This is a remarkable opportunity to work with an incredibly dedicated team and use your knowledge of policy development in the financial regulation sector to contribute to a vital cause. We want you to use your expertise to save our planet as a member of the new Policy Solutions team in the world’s leading independent conservation organisation.

In this new role of Senior Policy Advisor - Finance, you will help design creative policy solutions to some of the world’s most difficult and pressing challenges. Your work will influence government, central banks and regulatory authorities to integrate environmental risk into decision making and realign financial flows and capital towards achieving the Paris agreement and a nature positive future.

We will look to you to support policy development to transform the financial sector for WWF-UK, focusing on government policy and regulation. This will involve you developing an understanding of the problems, exploring and innovating solutions as well as testing ideas with industry and government. This will include engaging with stakeholders, relevant civil servants and technical experts to support the process of developing and influencing policy. You will produce technical reports, documents and briefings as well as commission consultants as needed. You will collaborate with colleagues to develop policy and deliver the case for action and implementation to key stakeholders too. You will also maintain oversight of the finance policy development space internally and externally, analysing existing and proposed policies for effectiveness and quality and be alert to new policy ideas.

You must have experience of policy development in financial sector regulation and an understanding of the sustainable finance landscape. An understanding of incorporating nature considerations into finance and business is particularly valuable. Your expertise will have been gained at a central bank, regulator, government or multilateral institution, academia or a private sector public affairs/ sustainability division. You will also have a record of developing and influencing key stakeholders, changing opinions, practices and creating new models to deliver policy change. Politically aware, you will possess an understanding of how policy is influenced, both inside and outside Government as well as how policy and politics interact and how one can be used to influence the other. Expert at identifying key or underlying issues in complex situations, you will be an experienced researcher who learns from mistakes and is open to giving and receiving challenging viewpoints. You will possess excellent influencing, relationship building and communication skills too.

If you have the expertise to ensure our policy development is politically relevant and of high quality, we would love to hear from you. Please visit our website via the link, complete the online registration and submit a copy of your up-to-date CV with the Supporting Statement highlighting what makes you a good fit for us.

Here at WWF, we are committed to conscious inclusion that helps cultivate an ethos of belonging, connection and shared purpose. We believe that the more diverse we are the better we become; this brings us together and empowers us to develop, engage and inspire; and critically to help build a future where people can live in harmony with nature.

Our policies and benefits reflect the importance of people being able to have a good work-life balance and being able to bring their ‘full self’ to work.

Our world needs you like never before. We are the first generation to know we are destroying the world and we could be the last that can do anything about it. We are looking for people who are passionate about making it politically, socially and economically unacceptable to destroy our planet’s natural resources. We need you to join us in the fight for our world.
