Programme Officer, Trillion Trees
This is a UK based contract and as such, you are required to have the Right to Work in the UK. Evidence of your Right to Work will be checked prior to interview.
With sound knowledge of forest conservation or development as well as broad understanding of international conservation work you are well placed to understand that deforestation and forest degradation are negatively impacting the climate crisis and remain principle challenges for sustainable development. Now you want to do something about it and that is the opportunity we can offer you as Programme Officer responsible for supporting the Trillion Trees project at WWF UK.
As Trillion Trees Programme Officer you will be involved in a joint venture with BirdLife International and the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) delivering a shared vision:
By mid-century, through concerted collective action by all sectors of society, one trillion trees have been re-grown, saved from loss and better protected around the world.
We are advocating for natural forest loss to have ended by 2030 and for 350 million hectares of forest landscapes to be under restoration. We are mobilising political, economic and social forces to achieve that aim and need your expertise to make sure we are successful.
As Programme Officer, you will work closely with colleagues supporting the development and management of a pipeline of forest protection and restoration projects in key strategic geographies globally. Your remit will be to provide essential programme coordination support between projects and Trillion Trees funding mechanisms. You will also ensure WWF-UK standards and quality assurance are being met at all times and produce regular project reporting. You will coordinate the development of internal and external communications to promote engagement and attract support for the programme as well as identify opportunities for funding and finance. This will include developing relationships with prospective funding organisations or individuals.
To play your part in saving our world, you will have good knowledge of forest conservation or development as well as broad understanding of international forest conservation work. Having worked for a not-for-profit organisation, you will be used to tracking progress and reporting against logical frameworks. You will be comfortable overseeing budgets and preparing grant management agreements too. An excellent communicator, you will excel at building internal and external relationships and partnerships. You will also have a sound understanding of media tools and best practice including knowledge of social media and website content management.
If you are passionate about making our world a better place through your work, we would love to hear from you. Please click on the link and apply via our website by submitting a copy of your up-to-date CV and Supporting Statement to highlight what makes you a good fit for us.
Every role at WWF is open to applications from all sections of society. Here at WWF, we are committed to conscious inclusion that helps cultivate an ethos of belonging, connection and shared purpose. We believe that the more diverse we are the better we become; this brings us together and empowers us to develop, engage and inspire; and critically to help build a future where people can live in harmony with nature.
Our policies and benefits reflect the importance of people being able to have a good work-life balance and being able to bring their ‘full self’ to work.
Our world needs you like never before. We are the first generation to know we are destroying the world and we could be the last that can do anything about it. We are looking for people who are passionate about making it politically, socially and economically unacceptable to destroy our planet’s natural resources. We need you to join us in the fight for our world.
