World Wildlife Fund (WWF), one of the world’s leading conservation organizations, seeks a Senior Program Officer, Social Science.

Major Function
The Senior Program Officer (SPO), Social Science will oversee the day-to-day roll-out and implementation of WWF’s Social Monitoring and Evaluation Toolkit, a new flexible approach to monitoring that will enable WWF to monitor environmental governance and management (via, human wellbeing, perceptions of conservation, and adaptive capacity. The Senior Program Officer will also play a critical project management role under the WWF Global Science team’s new focal area, Design for People, Design for Nature. The Senior Program Officer will also engage in other interdisciplinary focal areas within WWF’s Global Science team and work with WWF’s diverse Practice areas.
  • Lead the development of training materials and provide technical support to field offices on the Social Monitoring & Evaluation Toolkit in close partnership with an interdisciplinary, international team of conservation scientists and practitioners.
  • Coordinate the development of participatory monitoring and evaluation tools with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in WWF Network meetings on social monitoring and inclusive conservation.
  • Schedule meetings, workshops, and trainings with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate working group meetings; oversee consultancies; lead donor reporting; support budgeting processes as needed.
  • Develop agendas and lead collaborative meetings, workshops, and trainings to advance social monitoring across the WWF Network
  • Facilitate collaborative working groups and working group meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • A graduate degree in interdisciplinary conservation science or social science (economics, anthropology, sociology, political science) sciences and 3-5 years of relevant professional experience
  • Quantitative and/or qualitative social science research experience required, with knowledge of good data management practices
  • Experience with project management and science-based monitoring and evaluation required
  • Knowledge of area-based and community-based conservation is strongly preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with Spanish language skills desired.
  • Experience in facilitation and training desired, including experience facilitating long-term collaborative projects virtually
  • Ability to work independently and in a cross-cultural, interdisciplinary team
  • Ability to work on initiatives with multiple and competing priorities
