People, Culture & Technology – People & Culture Any WWF-Canada Office

Overview

WWF-Canada is seeking a Vice President, People & Culture for a 12-month maternity leave contract beginning in April 2024.

The Vice President, People & Culture is responsible for strategically managing all aspects of WWF-Canada’s people and culture needs which includes the development, implementation and improvement of strategies, processes, systems, and policies with inclusion by design. This role will spearhead human resource milestone processes such as performance management, the employee engagement survey, and the annual compensation review, to name a few and will work closely with the leadership team to continue making traction on the organization’s DEIB journey.

This role will manage approvals for the People & Culture team which includes payroll approvals, expense approvals that impact the People & Culture budget, and offer letters.

Responsibilities

Management of the People & Culture program

  • Manage the People & Culture and Volunteer programs vis-à-vis direct reports to ensure a consistent and positive employee experience. This includes but is not limited to providing high-level oversight and support on recruitment and managing complex employee relations situations.
  • Develop, mentor, and lead members of the team.
  • With the support of individual contributors on the team, project manage People & Culture milestone processes ensuring timely completion and adequate training is provided. Examples include managing the budgeting and planning process for the People & Culture team, performance management process, goal setting process, annual compensation review process, etc.
  • Area of focus: implementation of an updated performance management framework (including goal setting) and working with the team on initiatives to progress toward its goal of becoming an employer of choice.

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB)

  • Lead the development, implementation, and improvements of people and culture strategies, processes, tools, systems, and policies with inclusion by design.
  • Coordinate DEIB efforts across the organization to ensure progress toward the DEIB strategy.
  • Report and communicate on DEIB metrics (including the annual employee engagement survey) and provide recommendations to the senior management team and members of leadership on areas of opportunity.
  • Area of focus: Facilitate action on outcomes of the 2024 Employee Engagement Survey and source organization-wide DEIB learning and developing solutions on DEIB programs that are employee-led that support the organization’s DEIB strategy.

Leadership Development

  • Develop the leadership team and people managers to promote a positive and inclusive employee experience.
  • Engage with the leadership team to better understand areas in which they require support and identify, develop, and/or source training opportunities to strengthen their ability to lead productive teams.
  • Area of focus: Develop and facilitate manager training that focuses on the requirements of a people leader (in terms of process, responsibility, expectations, etc.) and how to lead inclusively.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in human resource management or a related field.
  • CHRL or CHRE designation required.
  • 10 years of experience in an HR business partner role, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a senior HR leadership role with at least 3 years of people management experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of inclusive people & culture-based strategies, processes, and best practices to drive impact and a positive and inclusive culture.
  • Ability to keep abreast on emerging diversity and inclusion trends that would apply to the organization.
  • Demonstrated experience advising and coaching leadership levels through employee and/structural challenges with the ability to motivate and develop leadership.
  • Proven experience to interpret and apply HR data to facilitate organizational improvements and higher-level decision making.
  • Advanced project management, time management, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
  • In-depth understanding of various employment legislation and the ability to proactively identify impacts of evolving legislation.
  • Effective relationship building skills demonstrating respect, collaboration, and engagement.
  • Effective communication skills along with the proven ability to exercise sound judgment, tact and discretion to navigate complex situations.

Other Information

Starting Salary Range: $120,000 and up (commensurate upon related skills and experience)
