Work Location: Hong Kong or Singapore

Having gained extensive experience of successfully managing complex Climate and Energy programmes for advocating environment or energy policy and business changes in Asia you are ready to step up to a bigger stage. As Asia Regional Lead for Energy Transition, you will collaborate with colleagues across the organisation to drive two WWF major programmes on Energy Transition across the delivery countries of China, Vietnam, Indonesia, India, and South Korea amongst others.

About the programmes:
The REpowering Asia Initiative has the goal to significantly reduce, and ultimately completely stop, public finance for new coal and accelerate the shift towards renewables in Asia.

The Climate Solutions Partnership (CSP) Energy Transition pillar - a collaboration between WWF, the World Resources Institute (WRI) and HSBC – works with fast-growing sectors and utility companies to grow demand and advocate for policy shifts to accelerate the uptake of renewable energy and energy efficiency solutions.

About the role:
This role of Asia Regional Lead for Energy Transition will provide you with the chance to significant impact the future of our planet by providing robust policy evidence and supporting projects on the ground to influence decision makers at all levels of government and the corporate sector.

Acting as our t echnical expert for renewable energy, energy efficiency and the energy transition , you will develop our evidence base, lead and co-ordinate the implementation of the two programmes at the global level, with significant focus on utilizing synergies between the two to realise the benefits of co-delivery to increase impact.

You will also develop strong partnerships with coalitions, the public, private and third sectors to develop broad support for climate and energy policy priorities. Important, will be the ability to mobilize the human, technical and financial resources both within the WWF Network, and externally, to implement these workstreams and develop strong relationships with institutional donors for external fund-raising.

Of graduate calibre, you will possess in-depth knowledge of and commitment to climate change, renewable energy development, energy investment issues, particularly in Asia but also their global context.

We would expect you will have worked on energy, climate change or related issues in an NGO, the public or private sector or a research organisation too with at least 7 years’ experience in a management function, with demonstrated success of managing geographically dispersed, multi-disciplinary teams and multiple donor budgets.

Highly organised, you will be good at balancing multiple requirements and can deliver under pressure. You will also have an eye for detail and exacting delivery standards coupled with excellent project management, interpersonal and communication skills.

A team player you are adept at overcoming obstacles and can demonstrate a passion for the natural world and WWF’s core mission.

This is a full-time contract role ending 31 December 2024.
