WWF CAR is looking for a Committed and Passionate Medical Coordinator

The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) is one of the largest independent conservation organizations in the world. We are an international NGO committed to environmental protection active in almost 100 countries and have been working in the Congo Basin since 1978.
In CAR, WWF has been active for more than 20 years, with field conservation programs in Bayanga, Sangha Mbaere region in The Dzanga Sangha Protected Areas complex (DSPA). DSPA is a 4,450 km2 area, covering the Dzanga Sangha Dense Forest Special Reserve with its various community use and other zones, and the Dzanga Ndoki National Park. This space is home to spectacular large mammals such as forest elephants, lowland gorillas and chimpanzees, bongos, buffalos, sitatungas, giant forest hogs as well as a large variety of monkeys and duikers. The area is also home diverse local communities’ groups.
WWF is supporting the Government of CAR to manage DSPA both to conserve its exceptional biodiversity and to promote the sustainable management of natural resources for the well-being of nearby human populations.

WWF-CAR seeks a Medical Coodinator whose major function will be to ensure the implementation of the
medical activities and the medical quality of the projects.

Location : Bayanga, CAR.
Duration: 2 years renewable

Main Responsibilities

The Medical Coordinator will be responsible for health issues in the project area. His/ Her Principal activities includes:

  • Supervision the activities of the medical component of WWF CAR;
  • Develop monitoring indicators for the medical component to facilitate evaluation;
  • Develop and implement a sustainable strategy for improving health in the project area (based on existing projects such as Bengo projects)
  • Periodic organization of educational meetings for the local population, complementary to the activities planned in the various current projects
  • Training of medical staff in the region

What you need:

Required Qualifications
  • Medical degree with Expertise in tropical diseases and Special knowledge: of hospital issues
  • Have a diversified experience in different medical training and at least 2 years of experience as a practicing physician in the African tropical zone,
  • Organization of medical staff training

  • Dexterity in the writing of reports;
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Knowledge of French / English / Sango.

  • Excellent organizational skills and respect of deadlines;
  • Good writing and speaking skills in French, Sango and English;
  • Basic computer tools skills (word, excel, multimedia);
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills,
  • Adheres to WWF's values: knowledgeable, optimistic, determined and committed;
