Program Overview:

The NDC Partnership brings together more than 200 members, including more than 115 countries, developed and developing, and more than 80 institutions to create and deliver on ambitious climate action that help achieve the Paris Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Governments identify their NDC implementation priorities and the type of support that is needed to translate them into actionable policies and programs. Based on these requests, the membership offers a tailored package of expertise, technical assistance, and funding. This collaborative response provides developing countries with efficient access to a wide range of resources to adapt to and mitigate climate change and foster more equitable and sustainable development. The NDC Partnership is hosted by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Secretariat, World Resources Institute (WRI), and the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS). The NDC Partnership has members in all regions of the world, with staff in Washington DC and Bonn, Germany.

Job Summary:

The Partnership’s Visual Media Specialist will play a vital role in the NDC Partnership’s growing communications portfolio and will support the communications staff in amplifying the Partnership’s work and impact to its diverse Membership and international audiences. The coordinator/specialist will report directly to the Communications Manager and Deputy Director of Outreach and Governance, while collaborating with other members of the communications staff and the wider Partnership Support Unit. The coordinator will primarily be responsible for supporting the Communications Manager in developing and publishing content for the Partnership’s website and social media, video production, and providing administrative support for core communications functions, including vendor coordination, budget tracking, and processing invoices and payments.

This position is remote due to Covid-19, but you will be based in our Washington, DC office once restrictions have been lifted.

Job Responsibilities:

Communications & Project Management Website Maintenance and Support (30%)

  • Hold the responsibility for the daily maintenance of the Partnership’s website, including regularly posting blogs, events, and press releases, and monitoring and posting publications and knowledge products.
  • Ensure that the website is updated regularly, repairing web pages and links, conducting security updates in coordination with external vendors, maintaining the email newsletter audience and web integration, and updating the Partnership’s country pages.
  • Coordinate with external vendors on more complex website updates, User Experience (UX) design, and site functionality. Branding and promotion (40%)
  • Supports the Communications Manager in conducting brand reviews for all communications deliverables, including documents, publications, reports, presentations, and marketing collateral for messaging and Style Guide adherence.
  • Maintains visual consistency and brand for all communications materials across multiple platforms, including websites, newsletters, social media, videos, and publications (both digital and print)
  • Liaise with designers and web developers on brand development for all communications and marketing materials.
  • Supports design projects including photo selection, photo editing, graphic design, and video editing.
  • Supports the development of the Partnership’s social media strategy under the guidance of the Communications Manager in collaboration with the Communications Coordinator, including developing and maintaining the social media calendar, working with staff to source and draft social content, and designing branded templates.
  • Collaborate with the Events staff to cross-align event promotion, branding and messaging with social media strategies, website, and communications channels. Systems Coordination and Administration (30%)
  • Maintains the communications team’s internal databases and files and external accounts, and ensures all best practice documents and style guides are up to date.
  • Regularly tracks and evaluates success metrics and key performance indicators with the Communications Manager to evaluate strategic communications work and support audience engagement and growth, including press outreach and media engagement, and social media engagement and channel performance.
  • Delivers live tech support and moderation for webinars and virtual events, and supports event administration and outreach, as needed.
  • Provides administrative support to the Deputy Director of Outreach and Governance, including scheduling travel, itemizing, tracking and processing expenses, and any other organizational needs on occasion.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a related field or with substantial professional work to demonstrate relevant experience
  • Three to five years of communications experience, ideally within a nonprofit or international organization
  • Experience with website management (WordPress and/or Drupal)
  • Knowledge of website best practices, UX design, SEO, CRM, and Google Analytics
  • Experience with brand development, graphic design and print production (practical knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud Suite: Illustrator, InDesign, and/or Photoshop highly preferred)
  • Experience in and portfolio demonstrating the fundamentals of graphic design, including production of a wide variety of digital and printed materials including infographics, brochures, event materials and displays, and front-end web design
  • Experience with social media channels (Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter) and social media management platforms (HootSuite experience, preferred)
  • Basic video editing skills (practical knowledge of Final Cut Pro or Premiere)
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized
  • Excellent writing, editing, and oral communication skills
  • Extensive project management experience and ability to oversee multiple priorities and work under pressure with tight deadlines
  • Flexible and capable of working with minimal direction and supervision
  • Strong computer skills and experience in Microsoft suite, database management, cloud- and web-based communications

Potential Salary:
$53,000-$68,000 Salary is commensurate with experience and other compensable factors.
