Job Summary:

As the Staff Accountant, you will carry out the listed responsibilities of the Accounting department. The ideal candidate should be well-versed in accounting principles and able to work comfortably with numbers and attention to detail. Your goal is to contribute to the overall efficient operation of the department and help the WRI to be fully aware of its financial condition. You will work with a collaborative team of 11 people and manage the Global office accounting entries. Due to our organizational size and culture, this position allows the opportunity for you to learn in other areas of accounting.

This position is remote due to Covid-19, but you will be based in Washington, DC once restrictions have been lifted.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Reconciliation of assigned General Ledgers accounts
  • Serve as backup AP accountant
  • Review AP Aging Reports and discuss appropriate actions for an overdue invoice and any accounting errors with supervisor
  • Attach payment confirmations to invoices
  • Process expense reclass requests
  • Issue 1099s to eligible vendors
  • Participate in month-end closing activities
  • Resolve payment request issues with initiators, vendors, and banks
  • Assist Accounting manager in any Accounts Payable integration projects
  • Troubleshoot Payment Processing System
  • Assist with annual audit processes by responding to auditors’ requests
  • Any additional responsibility set by Manager

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or business-related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience
  • AP processing and GL account experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Detail-oriented, professional attitude, reliable
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet monthly deadlines
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • US work authorization is required for this position

Potential Salary:

$53,000 - $68,000. Salary is commensurate with experience and other compensable factors.
