About the Program:

The Global Project Management Office (PMO) focuses on building high value through initiatives that transform project management across WRI’s growing network. We set and maintain Project Management (PM) standards, approaches, frameworks, and tools that are agile and flexible for a multitude of projects of varying complexities. We engage in activities that cultivate a project management culture and community of practice. This Office also facilitates capacity development through training and learning opportunities, along with providing coaching/mentoring, as necessary. The PMO also manages WRI’s project management and work collaboration software. Program and portfolio reporting, risk management, and lessons learned are also some strategic remit areas. We strive to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of project and program delivery.

This position is fully remote.


What you will do:

In this role, you will contribute to shaping a center of excellence for project management for over 1,500 WRI colleagues. You will be critical towards WRI’s growth by advancing and integrating institute-wide approaches to deliver initiatives that align with our strategic goals and long-term vision. As an intern with our team, you will assist with establishing project management standards, frameworks, and processes to facilitate the work of project managers. You will also support the implementation and management of WRI’s Project Management tool – Asana. You will assist in creating awareness of Asana’s benefits, managing change, providing training, and collaborating with teams to support their adoption and usage. You will report to the PM Lead.

Internship Learning Outcomes:

Project Management Support

  • Support the PMO team in the research and design of PM standards, processes, frameworks, and templates.
  • Assist in activities to foster a PM culture through content development for: Resource Hub, which includes a central repository for project templates, documentation, and sharing of best practices; Intranet; Community of Practice; Teams Channels.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of knowledge building initiatives, including online training, guides/handbooks.
  • Support the implementation of existing PMO initiatives, where necessary Asana Implementation & Management.
  • Assist with the rollout of Asana across the WRI network, including coordination with International Offices.
  • Contribute to the development of training content and videos, and preparation for any live training.
  • Help create workflows, automations, and templates.
  • Update training resources via Intranet and Resource Hub.
  • Support staff with resolving issues, automations, and related requests

What you will need:

  • Enrolled in or have completed a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Project Management, or other relevant areas.
  • Interest/experience researching and consolidating information into processes, workflows, presentations, and other documentation.
  • Experience with delivering presentations and the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical people.
  • Ability to utilize various tools such as PowerPoint, Asana, or other design/presentation platforms.
  • Comfortable interning remotely

Compensation

The pay range for this internship opportunity is $20/ hour for undergrads and $22/ hour for graduates.

Length of Contract:

This is a part-time (20 hours per week), 3-month internship with a flexible start and end date.

Location:

  • This is a remote-based internship with the option to work out of the Washington D.C. office once it reopens.
  • WRI will provide a laptop for the duration of your internship.
