Note: This position does not have to be onsite. We need someone within driving distance of our main facilities.
Overview
The position is an extremely technical, hands on, network engineering role. As the technical leader of a team of network engineers, you will collaboratively design, configure, implement, and document a multitude of technologies. In addition to training of your own, yearly technical training is provided to each of the team members and as the technical lead, you will have influence over training plans and technology direction. As the key member of the network team, you will be heavily involved in the decision around future purchases and upgrades.
Responsibilities
- Within a short period after hire, assume the technical leader of in progress and/or new network implementations
- Ingest current network documentation to develop a complete and thorough understanding of the network
- Assist in developing strategic network capital and operational expenditure plans
- Be heavily involved in ensuring the network is correctly monitored and maintained
- Review currently implemented designs to ensure they are following best practices
- Create and/or modify existing lab network to meet current and future needs
- Demonstrate knowledge of past, current, and future network technologies and trends
- Occasionally provide off hours support of new implementations and migrations
- Rarely provide off hours support for priority 1 network incidents
Qualifications
Required Skills and Background:
- Active CCIE certification required
- Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred
- Minimum 10 years of experience in IT or related fields
- 7 or more years of hands on experience designing, implementing, and operating complex enterprise networks
- Demonstrated ability to set and execute industry best practice network designs
- Demonstrated ability to document implemented design to ensure a smooth transition to daily operational support
- Demonstrated technology and skill progression throughout career
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task, but prioritize time sensitive or business critical projects
- Increasing knowledge and emphasis on network automation via Python, APIs, or well-established 3rd party frameworks
- Multi-vendor expert level routing and switching knowledge (Cisco, Arista, and Juniper)
- Expert knowledge in routing, multicast, and overlay protocols (BGP, EIGRP, PIM, VXLAN)
- Expert knowledge in switching protocols (RPVST, MST, VLANs,
- Expert knowledge in network security technologies (Firewalls, VPNs, 802.1X)
- Expert knowledge in Quality of Service (Cisco [wired and wireless], Arista, Juniper)
- Expert problem analysis, troubleshooting, and solving skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Knowledge of wireless technologies and practices
- Knowledge of voice technologies and practices
- Knowledge of DNS, DHCP, and IPAM
- Knowledge of SD-WAN
- Knowledge of public cloud network design and implementation
- Knowledge of performance management and operational tools

Salary: $160,000.00 - $170,000.00 per year
