Our current work primarily focuses on forest and land-use. Over time WRI Indonesia aims to expand its portfolio to include climate, energy, and city and transportation. Therefore, it is important for the organization to identify and put in place the research building blocks for achieving the vision of WRI Indonesia supporting science- and data-driven decision making at national and sub-national levels.

The Senior Communications Coordinator will support WRI Indonesia’s office by developing and implementing communications strategies, and managing multiple communications channels (such as website, social media, blog, publications, media relations, and events) including the development and maintenance of WRI Indonesia’s website and additional digital/online platforms as part of the organization’s program implementations. The Senior Communications Coordinator will manage, and together with the Communications Manager, co-lead selected programs from within the Climate, Energy, Cities and the Oceans (CECO) as well as Agriculture, Forest and Land Use (AFOLU) deputy directorship. The Senior Communications Coordinator will also proactively collaborate with the global team and donors on related work. The ideal candidate will have exceptional communication skills, sharp analytical thinking, and be able to demonstrate their ability to effectively engage with various national, sub-national, and international stakeholders.

What You Will Do
STRATEGY
  • Develop, support, and manage communications strategies for reports, events, conferences, and news opportunities
  • Develop and maintain relationships with various key stakeholders (government, donors, funding agencies, public leaders, etc) to improve the image of the organization and open avenues of opportunities
  • Taking the lead on communications activities for the Program team in advocating concerned program issues to the government
  • Create clear, concise messaging to advance the impact
  • Develop communications activities evaluation scheme which allows for some sort of measurement of the effectiveness of the communication in contributing to the organization’s Theory of Change achievement
  • Execute campaign and engagement strategies to relevant stakeholders in an effective manner, on schedule and on budget
  • Plan events for publication launches, roundtable discussions, meetings, and other announcements
  • Develop ideas for interactive media pieces including infographics, slideshows, charts, and videos, and support their design and promotion
  • Lead the design and production process for web content, engaging with third-party vendors and consultants where necessary
  • Generate and guide engaging and purposeful content for use across diverse channels
  • Develop post-event/activities reports, or supervise Communications Coordinator, Communications Assistant, and/or other Communications personnel within his/her responsibility to prepare and finalize the required reports

COORDINATION AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT
  • Taking the lead or providing support for the Communications Manager to coordinate all campaigning and engagement work at WRI Indonesia, ensuring that the work leads to WRI Indonesia’s intended impact
  • Coordinate the narrative and messaging that WRI Indonesia delivers at the project and institution level
  • Coordinate all digital communications work at WRI Indonesia, ensuring the work leads to WRI Indonesia’s intended impact
  • Set and continually manage projects with team members
  • Support annual fiscal planning through the establishment of key metrics related to proposals

OUTREACH
  • Taking the lead or providing support for the Communications Manager to develop and implement outreach and campaign strategies
  • Coordinate media outreach to traditional & new media. Assist with proactive outreach such as pitching, research, handling incoming requests, and monitoring daily news coverage
  • Develop ideas, write, and edit a variety of internal and external materials, such as blog posts, media materials, newsletters, op-eds, website content, and more
  • Develop branded marketing materials, such as brochures and PowerPoints
  • Develop and maintain website content
  • Coordinate outreach to partners and stakeholders via email communications, online events, and other opportunities
  • Develop ideas, write, and edit a variety of internal and external materials, such as blog posts, media materials, newsletters, op-eds, website content, and more
  • Build and maintain a social media presence, including Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn

SUPPORT
  • Support staff to build their skills, maximize their reach, and backfill duties when necessary
  • Review and approved communication materials, such as blogs, op-eds, infographics, etc
  • Support the development of compelling fundraising materials, including proposals and presentations
  • Monitor and support the publications process, including outreach planning, production, and distribution
  • Organizing and leading media/communication visits
  • Provide general administrative support, such as scheduling, event logistics, and other responsibilities as needed
  • Support and promote the institutional development and program of WRI Indonesia as needed.

What You Will Need
  • Proven professional experience of min. 6 years in communications within relevant program management
  • International experience or prior work in a global organization preferred
  • Experiences in liaison and negotiation with the government
  • Experiences in developing, implementing, managing, and evaluating development/advocacy initiatives
  • Interest and experience in forestry, energy, or other natural resources-related issues in Indonesia preferred
  • Experience and proven ability to communicate effectively with Indonesian government officials (GOI) and sound knowledge of GOI structures, procedures, and system
  • Articulate, versatile, highly skilled writer with professional writing experience (professional clips or writing samples preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced office environment, both independently and as part of a global team
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to encourage collaboration with other programs, international offices, and partners
  • Understanding of social media and how to use it to impact audiences
  • Excellent training and coaching skills
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and work under pressure
  • Ability to think creatively and collaboratively about all elements of communications work
  • Adaptable to rapidly changing priorities and able to manage multiple deadlines and deliver high-quality work products
  • Ability to travel and work in an insecure area with the flexibility to adapt to a constantly changing environment
  • Fluency in both Bahasa Indonesia and English, with a strong emphasis on written and spoken communications (additional language skills are welcome)
  • Legally able to work in Indonesia.

Contract Arrangement
Full-time with fixed-term employment agreement for 9 months period with 3 months of consultancy contract apply before the fixed-term employment agreement started.

Must have the authorization to work in Indonesia to be eligible for this position.
