Position Overview:

WRI India is looking for a bright & hardworking urban designer to join our Road Safety & Urban Transport team. This individual will lead street design/neighbourhood planning and road safety projects. The individual may also be required to support other areas of work within the cities program as needed.


Responsibilities:


  • Preparation of conceptual design drawings, detailed technical drawings, illustrations and other project-related content
  • Preparation of a material library for design proposals; Research and market-surveys regarding the same
  • Preparation of project proposals, reports and presentations related to projects
  • Undertake research and analysis required for specific aspects of the projects; produce blogs, articles, hand-outs and other outreach material for the ongoing projects, campaigns and events
  • Undertaking site-visits for recce surveys, documentation, data collection, traffic assessments etc.; Undertake site supervision with contractors and other stakeholders during the implementation/ trial-phases of the design proposals; Assessment of execution of design proposals by stakeholders during the same
  • Manage relationships with stakeholders including staff from municipal corporations, development authorities, traffic police, consultants, citizen groups etc.
  • Plan, organize and lead Capacity-Building workshops/events for city stakeholders
  • Must have strong spatial and land-use comprehension as well as excellent visual communication abilities
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, basic 3D modelling, GIS, Adobe Creative Suite.

Key attributes and credentials essential for the role:

  • Prior experience in Built environment, Urban Design, Streets and NMT planning, Urban Traffic and Transportation Engineering/ Planning projects
  • Familiar with design of roads, intersections, construction, data collection, research & analysis, urban traffic safety viz., pedestrian and vehicular safety etc.
  • Strong organizational and verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent academic performance and strong analytical capability
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly both orally and in writing, with excellent demonstrated skills in English
  • Basic proficiency in Hindi, Marathi or Kannada will be an advantage
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented; experience managing complex processes or projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced working environment and to juggle multiple assignments with little supervision
  • Must have strong spatial and land-use comprehension as well as excellent visual communication abilities
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, basic 3D modelling, GIS, Adobe Creative Suite is preferred.

Experience:

  • 7-10 years of experience working on relevant street design urban transport projects

Educational Qualification:

  • Masters’ Degree in Urban Design from a recognized university/institution will be preferred.

Salary and Benefits: 15,00,000 to 18,00,000

Salary shall be commensurate with experience and skills. WRI offers a generous and comprehensive benefits package.
