About The Program

Since launching in 2023, the Coalition for High Ambition Multilevel Partnerships (CHAMP) for Climate Action has quickly developed into one of the primary platforms for multilevel climate partnerships. With 77 endorsing countries, CHAMP aims to unlock the potential of multilevel partnerships to accelerate NDC implementation, improve access to climate finance for subnational governments, and showcase pioneering subnational action on climate mitigation and adaptation. World Resources Institute (WRI) serves as a key partner supporting CHAMP's governance, diplomatic engagement, communications, national action and research.

Job Highlight

Reporting to the Head of Governance and Diplomacy, you will be responsible for strategic engagement across CHAMP endorsing countries and partner organizations. You will ensure CHAMP flagship events are impactful and run smoothly with a particular focus on the annual High-level Political Dialogue and regional convenings. You will work closely with senior leadership and a diverse set of international partners to strengthen alignment, leverage strategic opportunities for influence and translate country and partner experience into actionable insights and guidance.

What You Will Do

Stakeholder Engagement (40%):

  • Responsible for strategic engagement with CHAMP-endorsing countries and partners, including maintaining visibility on, and tracking, key decision-makers, focal points, and evolving climate priorities across CHAMP-endorsing countries.
  • Lead the collation of outcomes and key learnings from CHAMP implementation and partner experiences to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, and translate these into high-level insights, recommendations, and decision-ready briefings for the CHAMP Steering Group and partners.

Event Management (50%):

  • Lead the design and delivery of high-level CHAMP convenings, including the annual High-Level Political Dialogue, and two regional convenings a year, ensuring that agendas, participation, and formats are aligned with strategic objectives and deliver clear outcomes aligned with the CHAMP implementation roadmap.
  • Identify and advance strategic engagement opportunities at major global and regional forums, including COPs and Climate Weeks, to strengthen relationships, advance CHAMP priorities, and position the initiative with key stakeholders and within critical processes.

Collaboration & Partnerships (10%):

  • Coordinate across, and build strong working relationships with, WRI workstreams, country offices, communications and WRI Development Team on CHAMP-related engagement activities.
  • Deliver timely responses to stakeholder and partner requests and provide necessary information to research/programme staff to maximize engagement impact.
  • Maintain detailed and up-to-date project plans for all deliverables, setting clear objectives, tasks and timelines and track progress using Asana
  • Support Director of Multilevel Partnerships, CHAMP Project Board and WRI Ambassadors with all necessary information (including briefing documents & event trackers) to maximise formal and informal engagement opportunities.

What You Will Need

  • Education: You have a completed bachelor’s degree in communications, international relations, environmental studies, political science, or a related field
  • Experience: You have experience leading stakeholder engagement and partnership management in international, climate, or nonprofit contexts, with the ability to navigate complex institutional and political environments.
  • Demonstrated expertise and practical experience in multilevel partnerships and subnational climate action, including an understanding of the roles of national and subnational governments.
  • Strong track record in designing and delivering (high-level) convenings and engagements involving government, multilateral, and institutional stakeholders, including in virtual and hybrid formats, with a focus on outcomes and securing senior-level participation.
  • Experience working with diverse international stakeholders, demonstrating cultural sensitivity, diplomatic judgment, and the ability to build trust across institutions and regions.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives with overlapping priorities and time-sensitive deliverables, exercising sound judgment and prioritization.
  • Languages: You are proficient in spoken and written English

Potential Salary: London: 45K to 56K pounds/year

Hague: 53K to 66K Euros per year(excluding 8% vacation allowance)
