Role Description The Trainer – Solar Installation Fundamentals will deliver structured, hands-on training programs focused on the basics of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems and safe installation practices. This hybrid role, involves preparing and delivering lessons, demonstrations, and workshops that cover system components, site assessment, mounting, wiring, and commissioning. The trainer will develop and update training materials, manuals, and assessments to ensure content remains accurate, practical, and aligned with current industry standards and safety codes. Responsibilities include mentoring learners, evaluating their progress, providing constructive feedback, and ensuring a safe learning environment during both classroom and field-based sessions. The trainer will also collaborate with program coordinators and other instructors to improve course design, support certification outcomes, and contribute to WOGSIN’s mission of expanding access to green skills.

Qualifications

  • Strong foundational knowledge of solar PV systems, including components, system design basics, installation methods, and relevant electrical and safety principles.
  • Hands-on experience with solar installation, site assessment, basic tools and equipment, and adherence to industry safety standards and best practices.
  • Demonstrated training, teaching, or facilitation experience, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to learners with diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to develop and adapt training materials, lesson plans, and assessments for different skill levels and learning styles.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills, with a collaborative and learner-centered approach.
  • Commitment to sustainability, climate action, and skills development for emerging green economies, especially in the global south.
  • Relevant technical certification or vocational qualification in solar energy, electrical systems, or a related field; a teaching or training certificate is an asset.
  • Flexibility to support occasional field visits, practical demonstrations, or community-based trainings as needed.
