Summary

Join Woodwell’s Information Systems team as a Cloud Computing Analyst to manage public cloud resources for the center. The successful candidate will work closely with research and non-research staff to optimize cloud storage, compute environments, software, and scientific data and modeling processing workflows. The ideal candidate will have passions for cloud computing, coding and climate solutions.

Responsibilities Include, But Not Limited

Work with staff to analyze, optimize and manage cloud computing environments, including GCP, AWS and Azure

Work with research staff to streamline scientific computing workflows within cloud environments

Work with the IS team to optimize cloud security utilizing least privilege access principle

Manage and optimize cloud billing and resource usage

Develop and manage scalable architecture to support applications and infrastructure as a service (IAAS)

Identify cloud technology gaps/risks and establish mitigation strategies.

Write guides and provide training on cloud platform usage, cloud management tools and best practices

Remain up to date with cutting-edge cloud technologies, methods and proactively work to implement them

Must Have The Following Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

Administration experience with Google Cloud Platform or other major IaaS provider is required

Strong track record of implementing cloud-based processing techniques

A passion for coding and data science including knowledge of at least one programming language (Python, R, and C++ are preferred)

Experience handling large volumes of spatiotemporal data

Proven deep technical background including cloudbased CPU and GPU optimization

Ability to work in a demanding environment with minimal supervision

Familiarity with database usage and basic administration tasks (SQL preferred)

Proven track record in architecting and managing High-Performance Computing (HPC) environments, leveraging Terraform for Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and optimizing large-scale data workflows within BigQuery

Ability to design informative and accessible technical training materials

Qualifications

2+ years of hands on professional experience

A Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or other quantitative fields.

Hours Of Work

This role is paid on a salary basis.

Typically, full-time employees work 40 hours during a Monday through Friday workweek. However, this is a salaried position. Therefore, the individual is expected to work as required to complete the duties of the position. This may mean weekend hours and/or hours beyond 40 per week.

Desired Start Date: April 2026

Classification and Compensation: This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position, the annual salary range is $96,000 to $107,000 dependent on qualifications/experience. Woodwell offers a generous benefits package and work life balance.

Location: Falmouth, Massachusetts, onsite or hybrid 2-3 days per week
