We are looking for a Senior Staff Test Engineer to join our team. The goal of a Senior Staff Test Engineer at Wisk is to ensure that all testing at our wind tunnel facility is executed safely, effectively, and with the highest level of technical rigor to mature propulsion systems and validate aerodynamic models. You will be part of the Aircraft Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test team that delivers high-quality test data and analysis to de-risk critical hardware and software, validate performance, and support aircraft safety-of-flight decisions.

Due to the nature of the work required for this position, this is an onsite opportunity. You will be required to work from our wind tunnel facility located in Ridley Park, PA.

What you will do:

  • As part of the Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test (SEIT) organization, and deployed in the Test & Verification group, you will act as a lead test and verification engineer for a novel type of aircraft development targeting the autonomous UAM market.

  • You will take part in planning and executing tests to assess the loads, dynamics, performance, capabilities, and compatibility of the various aircraft propulsion systems, actuation systems, High Voltage Interconnect System (HVIS), and aircraft structures in a production-like configuration.

  • As the wind tunnel lead, you will own the end to end execution of any and all test points at the test facility, performing the role of Rig Operator and/or test Director, while supported by multiple cross functional IPTs and SMEs.

  • You will support maturing propulsion systems toward the final aircraft configuration, de-risking critical propulsion hardware and software functionality, validating aerodynamic performance and CFD models, and preparing justification on safety of flight for aircraft flight testing.

  • You will help coordinate propulsion system durability tests, limit loads testing, thermal model validation, tilt angle/blade pitch schedule evaluations, and aerodynamic interaction tests.

  • You will be the primary point of contact for all wind tunnel test activity, coordinating closely with engineering, program management, and external test partners to ensure timely, safe, and technically sound test execution.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, or other related engineering field, with 12+ years of relevant experience.

  • You have worked in the aerospace or aviation industry , with direct involvement in testing and verification of integrated aircraft systems.

  • You have hands-on experience planning, coordinating, and executing complex test campaigns, including integrating complex, safety-critical systems and solving technical issues during execution.

  • You have a deep and applied knowledge of aircraft systems, verification and validation processes, structural loads, thermal testing, and aerodynamic performance evaluation.

  • You have led teams that have successfully completed large-scale system or aircraft-level tests, delivering data and analysis packages that informed design, model correlation, and safety-of-flight decisions.

  • You are familiar with industry-standard test methodologies , correlation of analytical models to test results, environmental and structural testing, and safety and compliance processes for flight-critical systems.

  • You are familiar with National Instrument hardware (cRIO, cDAQ) and Software (Labview). Proficient with data acquisition devices and sensors (accelerometers, thermocouples, strain gauges)
