We are looking for a Senior Developer Experience Engineer to join our team. The goal of a Senior Developer Experience Engineer at Wisk is to ensure a stable, efficient and robust platform is provided to product teams for continuous development, integration and verification. You will be part of the DevSecOps (DSO) team within the Software Certification, Verification and Process (SCVP) team that enables the software teams to develop and verify their software in an efficient certifiable manner.

Due to the nature of the work required for this position, this is an onsite opportunity. You will be required to work from our Mountain view, California office.

What you will do:

  • As part of the DSO you will act as a Software Developer Experience Engineer focusing on:

    • Developer Tooling: Design, build, and maintain internal tools and plugins using Go, Python, and Bash to simplify debugging, testing, deployment supported by documentation.
    • Proactive solutioning: Proactively identify bottlenecks in the development workflow and implement solutions to streamline processes, from local development environments to production.
    • CI/CD Optimization: Enhance and manage GitLab CI pipelines with a focus on reducing build times, improving feedback loops, and increasing reliability for developers. Document and share best practices for CI/CD pipelines across multiple IPTs.
    • Gitlab Onboarding Develop and improve the onboarding process to give access to GitLab projects in compliance with Export Control and a manage various User Groups as needed,
    • Internal Support & Advocacy: Act as a key point of contact for developers within the product team, providing expert-level support for our toolchain and infrastructure. Champion the needs of developers in technical and planning discussions and document/promote best practices as needed. .
    • Cloud Environment Management: Support and optimize the underlying Google Cloud Platform (GCP) infrastructure to ensure it is easy to use, secure, and cost-effective for development teams .

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Developer Experience Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or a Software Engineer with a passion for improving developer productivity.

  • Strong programming skills in Go and Python , with proficiency in Bash scripting.

  • Deep empathy for developers and a passion for creating an outstanding developer experience.

  • Experience managing and optimizing CI/CD systems, specifically GitLab CI .

  • Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and a solid understanding of how developers interact with cloud services.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to work collaboratively and provide effective support.

  • Experience building and maintaining internal developer tools and automation.

  • A problem-solving mindset, with the ability to diagnose complex technical issues and provide clear solutions.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience creating a developer portal or a centralized hub for engineering tools and documentation.

  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or Ansible.

  • Experience with containerization (Docker) and container orchestration (Kubernetes).

  • Experience working in a highly regulated or safety-critical environment.

Pay range the company expects to pay: $156,512 - $184,132 per year - The starting base salary within this range for this role varies based on factors such as your geographical location, and your relevant job-related experience that is consistent with a business necessity.
