We are looking for a Lead Composite Lay-Up Technician to join our team. The goal of a Lead Composite Lay-Up Technician at Wisk is to ensure that composite parts are fabricated accurately and efficiently. You will be part of the manufacturing team that ensures high-quality composite components are produced for our all-electric personal aircraft.

Due to the nature of the work required for this position, this is an onsite opportunity. You will be required to work from our Mountain View office.

In this role you will:

  • Follow current processes, specifications, and best practices while laminating prepreg composite parts.
  • Use fixtures, molds, laser projection, CNC cutters and shop aides to ensure composite part fabrication is done properly and be responsible for the quality of your work.
  • Help develop and bring about safe autonomous flight.

  • As part of the manufacturing organization, you will act as a Lead Composite Lay-Up Technician for a novel type of aircraft development targeting the autonomous UAM market. In this role, you will:
  • Take part in the production of high-quality composite components.
  • Support the team by following detailed work instructions and ensuring all parts meet stringent quality standards.
  • Help solve problems related to composite part fabrication.
  • Coordinate with the manufacturing engineers and quality control to properly document any non-conformance or deviations from the established work instructions.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and accurate completion of tasks.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of three years lay-up of pre-preg composite parts with complex geometries.
  • Very strong mechanical skills.
  • Able to read and understand composite engineering drawings including notes and tolerances.
  • Strong craftsmanship skills and experience with various types of hand tools and hand-held power tools.
  • Broad experience with a wide variety of epoxy resin systems, woven carbon fiber and fiberglass, film adhesives, core materials, and syntactic fillers.
  • Able to learn new software systems for ply cutting, laser projection, and oven controllers.
  • Bladder and/or compression molding lay-up experience.
  • Extreme attention to detail and continual pursuit of perfection.
  • Excellent listening and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong team player.
  • Ability/experience operating a laser tracker for part validation or fixture set-up.
  • Ability to work from verbal instructions.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment conducting repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to operate a forklift.
$41 - $47 an hour

Pay Range the Company expects to pay:$41 - $47per hour - The starting base rate within this range for this role varies based on factors such as your geographical location, and your relevant job-related experience that is consistent with a business necessity.
