About The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Data & Analytics Specialist to join our Operational Excellence team. In this role, you will be instrumental in enhancing the efficiency and reliability of energy management processes by developing data-driven tools and automations. Your primary responsibilities will include monitoring equipment in real-time, detecting performance issues, and enabling proactive interventions to prevent energy and data losses. You will also work on identifying when building savings fall below expected thresholds, diagnosing root causes, and escalating issues as needed. Additionally, you will forecast potential savings for new projects, calibrate models based on actual results, and streamline the daily workflows of Energy Managers by providing them with tailored data tools. This role requires a proactive individual capable of working in fast-paced cycles, delivering minimum viable products quickly, and iterating continuously to improve solutions. Your work will directly impact the operational performance of hundreds of buildings and contribute to Thermosphr’s growth trajectory.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Data Science, Analytics, Engineering, or a related field
  • 2 to 4 years of professional experience in data analysis or analytics within demanding environments
  • Proven experience designing and delivering impactful data tools or solutions
  • Hands-on expertise with SQL, Python, BigQuery, Metabase, Databricks, or similar data tools
  • Experience automating processes and leveraging AI in operational workflows
  • Strong ownership and project coordination skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a focus on measurable impact
  • Fluent in English and native or bilingual in French
  • Interest in building operations, energy performance, or related fields (preferred but not mandatory)

Responsibilities

  • Monitor approximately 500 pieces of equipment in real-time, developing automated alerts and corrective actions to prevent failures within a 10-minute window
  • Detect when building energy savings fall below break-even points, identify root causes, and escalate issues within four days
  • Forecast achievable savings for buildings prior to sale, calibrate models against actual performance, ensuring accuracy within 10%
  • Identify bottlenecks in Energy Managers’ workflows, such as manual BMS point mapping, and develop data tools to save at least 30% of their time
  • Structure and maintain high-quality data to support analytical tools, working in rapid cycles from MVP to long-term solutions
  • Collaborate closely with the Tech team to deploy AI-assisted solutions and automate operational processes
  • Measure adoption and effectiveness of deployed solutions, iterating based on feedback and performance metrics
