This
is a full-time permanent position. The Anti-Racism and Climate Justice Support
teacher will work collaboratively with each family of schools to support school
leaders and school teams in developing anti-racism, de-colonization and climate
action initiatives and projects. They will work closely with the Superintendent
team, school teams, staff, students and community members in developing
strategies, sustainable resources and professional development opportunities,
focused on integrating the principles of equity and sustainability action
across all disciplines and domains within the Winnipeg School Division.

Duties
Commitment in using Winnipeg
School Division’s Strategic Plan as a foundation for actions in supporting the
implementation of the high-level strategies namely to Seek Truth and
Reconciliation, to Build Community Schools that are Barrier Free, to Develop a
Culture of Thinking & Shared Sense of Responsibility for all Children, and
promote Equitable Distribution of Resources.
Use of a rich
understanding of climate change literature and pedagogical considerations to
develop resources and strategies that are rooted in equity, Indigenization and
reconciliation, as well as experiential education, land-based learning, and
sound design principles.
Proven experience in the
design of powerful projects which lead to transformation.
To ensure all students
and community members have a strong voice and are part of planning for climate
justice and anti-racist education initiatives.
Promoting a vision,
culture and a shared understanding of anti-racist education, decolonization and
climate justice that is rooted in empowering and advocating for all learners.
Collaborating with
community partners, school leaders, elders and knowledge keepers, staff and
students in developing, implementing and monitoring initiatives that promote
Indigenous ways of knowing, meaningful learning, engagement, belonging, and
academic success for all learners.
Develop mechanisms to
ensure evidence- and research-based practices are in place and monitored to
ensure climate justice and anti-racist initiatives are impactful, sustainable,
and updated based on current deep learning.
Working alongside
schools in designing, coordinating and facilitating anti-racist and climate
justice workshops and training opportunities for staff, students and community
members to address diverse needs of the WSD community.
Partner with outside
organizations, divisional grandparents, Indigenous leaders, racialized and
other underserved groups to ensure all students reach their highest potential.
Qualifications
Manitoba
Teachers’ Certificate;
Experience
leading, facilitating and/or training in anti-racist and/or climate action
initiatives within a public school setting or outside organization.
A
commitment to creating learning environments that are inclusive and culturally
safe.
Be
knowledgeable about anti-racist and climate action pedagogy and approaches.
Deep
understanding of K-12 curricula, including interdisciplinary approaches to
subjects.
Demonstrated
ability to organize and facilitate workshops, forums and conferences.
Ability
to collaborate with various community partners, WSD staff, school leaders and
senior administration to achieve goals that are rooted in climate justice, anti
racism and decolonization practices.
