Nuclear Safety Engineer

Welcome to Westinghouse and Global Engineering Services! We are around 2000 engineers globally whereof about 60 are located in Sweden and Finland. We have competence within several areas such as structural analysis, thermohydraulic, chemistry, components and safety analysis that contributes with engineering expertise to various projects here at Westinghouse.


As a Nuclear Safety Engineer, you will be a key player in examining that our BWR reactors meets the safety requirements set by Westinghouse, our customers, and authorities in different countries.


You will join a team of 14 Engineers within Nuclear Safety, Licensing and BWR Plant Technology. This means that you will have the opportunity to learn from other talented engineers and develop quickly in your role. You will also collaborate with other departments within Westinghouse.

Your contribution for a carbon-free future

As a Nuclear Safety Engineer here with us, your main responsibility will be to carry out complex analysis and conduct safety security analyses of our BWR reactors. Among other things, this means that you will:

We are now looking for an engineer who will work with Nuclear Safety for, mainly the Nordic BWR plants, but new construction projects may also be relevant. We envisage that you have several years of experience in the nuclear power industry and that you have an interest in Nuclear Safety issues and preferably have experience of Nuclear Safety in terms of analysis and interpretation of requirements. In your role with us, you will work with analyses of complex problems, investigations and issues related to Nuclear Safety.

You will work in project-based teams in close collaboration with project managers and other Engineers.

The role will be based either at Westinghouse in Västerås, Sweden, or in Helsinki, Finland.



We are looking for you

To be a good match for this role, we believe that you have 5-10 years of relevant experience. Relevant education is a MSc in Engineering, or with a similar degree that provides a strong technical and theoretical foundation.


You are thorough and structured in the way you approach tasks and enjoy solving complex problems. Due to the nature of the work and our business, it is very important that you have a high level of integrity.


To thrive in this role, we also believe that you are communicative and enjoy collaborating with other people.


Qualifications

  • Master of Science in Engineering, or similar
  • Experience working in Linux/Unix environment
  • Full professional proficiency in English
  • Full professional proficiency in either Swedish or Finnish. If Finnish basic knowledge of Swedish is required.
  • Some knowledge of Probabilistic Risk Analysis
