BWR Nuclear Design Engineer

Welcome to the BWR Core Design team! Our work provides a critical contribution to the operations and business of nuclear power plants around the world including core and nuclear design expertise for BWR reactors globally.
We are part of the EMEA Fuel Engineering department, with 16 employees in roles such as reactor physicist, senior engineer and design engineers along with the Fuel Rod Design team.
In the role of BWR nuclear design engineer in our team, you will be a key player in the nuclear design for our customers’ BWR reactors.
Your contribution for a carbon-free future
As BWR nuclear design engineer your main responsibility is to develop nuclear fuel designs for manufacturing and performing core simulations based on the fuel loading and operating conditions. Among other things, this means that you will:
- Contribute to the optimization of fuel utilization and assurance that the safety and regulatory requirements are fulfilled.
- Responsible for criticality analyses, thermal hydraulics, fuel rod design, mechanical design and safety analyses.
- Method- and software development
- Document analyses in reports, most often in English
Examples of customer projects that you can be involved in as a nuclear design engineer are cycle specific safety analyses, development of the nuclear design for manufacturing, review of core loading plans developed by the customer, licensing of fuel and business quotes. Other tasks may concern validation and quality assurance of the core simulator codes and tools that we use and develop internally.
The role is placed in Västerås, Sweden, with the option to work remotely 3 days per week.

Qualifications
- Master or Bachelor of Science in nuclear engineering, energy systems engineering, engineering physics or equivalent education.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken
- Experience in writing reports
Meritorious
- Good knowledge in Swedish
- Working experience in the field of analysis
- Experience from the nuclear industry
