Senior Category Specialist

Your day to day:
- Solicit quotations and analyze contract proposals associated with service, equipment and materials.
- Negotiate pricing, delivery, terms and conditions to satisfy financial, quality and delivery requirements with suppliers.
- Process purchase orders within limits of authority, and SCM processes and policies.
- Develop and maintain working relationships with suppliers and internal partners to maintain adequate sources of supply. Identify standard engineering, quality and administrative issues, assisting with resolution to fulfill internal and external procurement requirements.
- Identify and obtain cost improvements of purchased materials and services.
- Obtain training and acquire additional skills/knowledge to ensure compliance with nuclear regulatory requirements and enhance personal growth.
- Coordinate and expedite material deliveries.
- Knowledge of procedure development and corrective action systems preferred.
- Proficient in use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access. Knowledge of SAP preferred.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Support the Supply Chain Management departmental goals and WEC Corporate vision as defined by upper Management.
- Must be able to problem solve, organize and prioritize work, interact with Engineers and Suppliers effectively and meet deadlines.
- Must be able to work independently or as a team member as needed.
- Possess good judgment, attention to detail.
- Possess strong communication skills, including written and verbal, and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of legal procurement processes and practices including purchasing controls, bidding procedures, contract administration, vendor management, and other related procurement activities.
- Attend meetings and update others on issues or concerns, in particular when there is a risk which could prevent the organization meeting customer demands or where there are over capacity concerns
- Support supplier change requests and review and communicate the impact
What you need to be sucessful in this role:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 5-10 years experience in nuclear industry procurement
- Familiarity with NQA-1 and ISO Certifications
- Previous AP1000 experience preferred
- Knowledge of ASME procurement classification
- Experience with large value procurements with customer flowdowns
