Responsibilities

BHI’s Lead composite technicians are expected to:

  • Execute complex composite repairs to engineering standards
  • Understand the proper execution of:
    • Vacuum assisted wet laminations
    • Standard sandwich repairs
    • LE erosion repairs/LEP installation or application
    • Other structural repairs that may vary in size or complexity

  • Utilize BHI’s reporting system to document inspections, LEP application, repairs, and LPS tests, and material requests
  • Complete daily forms to maintain the safety standards of BHI and its clients
  • All other duties as assigned by the field supervisor(s), project manager(s), and blade manager.
  • Safely and effectively rig platforms
  • Train and mentor technicians with less experience

Qualifications

  • Soft Skills: Communication, transparency, motivation, responsiveness, and integrity.
  • Competency with rigging 2m and 360° suspended platforms
  • Understanding of basic theory behind composites
  • Understand LOTO methods/best practices
  • Understanding of chemicals including bonding pastes, epoxy resins, structural adhesives, profile fillers, and topcoat systems.
  • Understanding and execution of chamfering/scarfing methods of multipe manufacturers

Physical Requirements

Per industry standards, BHI’s composite technicians are required to:

  • Climb wind turbines more than 300 feet
  • Work at height (suspended 2m platform, 360° platform, aerial man lift, and/or rope access)
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license with clean motor vehicle record
  • Demonstrate good working habits including attendance, housekeeping, teamwork, task prioritization, ethics, and exceptional communication
