Mechanical Drafter/Designer

Perform a variety of Mechanical and/or Electrical technical and engineering assignments for Technical Services including design, drafting, and implementation of mechanical, electrical and instrumentation projects (Capital, Expense, Development) under the guidance of a qualified professional engineer.
Your day to day:
- Engineering technician – Manage drafting/design/engineering request workload and coordinate requests to ensure timely completion and level loading. Perform role of mechanical engineering support technician to Technical Services
- Equipment and systems design - Prepare conceptual/preliminary design of mechanical equipment or systems using CAD software under the guidance of a Westinghouse engineer. Perform basic design calculations as required to produce conceptual and preliminary designs. Select hardware and software to meet functional requirements. Proficient in the use of Bill of Material software/uses. Perform inspection and verification of field conditions during design. Specific focus on inspections using software, cameras, and hardware with the subsequent documentation therein
- Project support activities – Perform advanced project controls (scope, cost, estimate, and schedule) for assigned projects under the guidance of a Technical Services engineer or project manager. Generate installation instructions, coordinate and interface with contractors, and provide technical and project oversight for installation activities. Perform computer, measuring devices, and instrumentation support for Capital projects, 3D Scanning initiatives, and project inspections.
- Equipment and Material Specification, Sourcing, and Vendor Surveillance – Help prepare requirements and specification documents for purchasing and fabricating equipment and systems under the guidance of WEC engineer or project manager. Generate requests for quotes and purchase requests to purchase materials and equipment. Identify, Set-up and acquire spare parts for Capital/Expense and Environmental projects
- Perform Drafting and Design function as well as technical oversight – Perform CAD drafting of mechanical/electrical designs under the direction of a WEC engineer. Comply with facility specifications and Technical Services engineering and drafting procedures. Software subject matter expert (SME) for multiple engineering tools i.e. L2L, ENOVIA, SharePoint, PowerBI, etc. Scanner/Plotter and other hardware tool troubleshooting and support.
- Safety and Standards expert – Well versed in Industry standard best safety practices i.e. INPO, 5S along with ANSI, IBC, AISC, NAASCO, PACP, etc. Perform full support role to WEC safety leads in all areas.
What you need to be successful in this role:
- High School diploma plus two years technical school training in mechanical or electrical engineering technology or equivalent experience. Electrical knowledge, understanding and experience a plus
- 5-10 years experience. Students and/or recent graduates may be exempt from this requirement
- 2D CAD and/or 3D modeling certifications a plus
- 2-year technical degree or equivalent a plus
- Proficient in AutoCAD
- SolidWorks, Inventor, Revit, CATIA or similar 3D experience is required, with experience in tube/pipe routing a plus
- Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skill levels
- Team player with critical thinking skills
- Has a passion to contribute to tasks, outgoing
- 3D Reality Capture and/or modeling over 3D Scan point cloud data a plus
