Resident Site Team - Technical Principal Engineer

General Job Function:

As part of the Asia ESS localization program, it is determined to add Resident Site Team – Technical Principal Engineer positions for continuous support of the existing Sanmen and Haiyang AP1000 Resident Site Teams (RST) and their on-going engineering technical services, to develop local capabilities as well as further growth in business opportunities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • This role will serve as technical experts who assist the RST with understanding and responding to Sanmen & Haiyang AP1000 operating issues and to provide timely technical issues resolution.
  • Direct link to global Westinghouse engineering teams for resolution of plant technical issues.
  • Provide Westinghouse technical expertise to address:
    • technical and emergent issue resolution
    • plant modifications and design optimization technical solutions
    • licensing issues
    • Justifications for Continued Operation (JCO) and Reasonable Assurance of Safe Operation (RASO)
    • operation and refueling outage support.
  • Provide technical support for the disposition of site changes, material substitution, operational issues, and other similar areas.
  • Assist in the review and development of Technical Descriptions for Offers and Contracts related to ESS Opportunities
  • Provide project engineering management oversight and technical advice to the local design institute for work related to resolution of site technical resolutions
  • Work closely with the WEC Global Engineering Services (GES) team to ensure all technical resolutions are managed in accordance with Westinghouse policies and procedures
  • Coordinate the interface between our technical team (on-shore and at the home office) and the customer’s technical team on the resolution of engineering issues.
  • Ensuring that systematic controls are in place to ensure Westinghouse technical solutions are performed effectively
  • Ensuring proper and frequent communications between all parties, with regards to engineering related issues.
  • Enforce the use of error prevention and human performance tools at the site
  • Key competencies of this position include teamwork, communication, delivering customer success, and driving for results.

Education:

Bachelor’s or Master of Science degrees in engineering or related field

Years of Experience:

At least 5-10 years of related experience in the Nuclear Industry, engineering or product management and exposure to marketing principles and processes.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent with a minimum of 10-15 years experience with at least 5 years Nuclear Industry experience
  • Previous experience with operating nuclear power plants (for example: Systems Engineer, Subject Matter Expert, or RO/SRO Certification) strongly preferred
  • Significant customer-facing experience.
  • Travel Requirements: (50% or greater travel)
  • Position requires unescorted access status for nuclear plant sites
  • Has a working knowledge and experience with human performance tools, with a strong safety focus.
  • Bilingual (Chinese and English) are preferred to ensure effective communication with all parties.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing) with the customer and Westinghouse personnel at all levels.
  • Ability to interface well with all levels of the Customer and Westinghouse organization
