Principal Manufacturing Engineer

Your Day-to-Day:
Perform on-site and remote supplier oversight to ensure Westinghouse technical and quality requirements are achieved
Develop and implement Supplier Oversight Plans to drive on-time completion of critical document submittals, manufacturing activities, surveillance (witness and hold) points, inspections, and tests and ensure vendor compliance with critical requirements
Coordinate activies of Westinghouse functions responsible for driving supplier performance including Supply Chain (buyers and category managers), Design Engineering, and Supplier Quality Oversight
Actively identify and escalate significant supplier issues, risk, and quality events.
Drive prompt resolution of issues by coordinating activities, issuing timely communications, and identifying stakeholders to ensure prompt identification of impacted products, disposition of issues, and implementation of corrective action
Monitor key supplier performance metrics (On-Time Delivery, Quality issues, Deviation Notices, etc.) for assigned suppliers to proactively identify negative performance trends and implement causal analysis, corrective actions, and Supplier Improvement Plans to mitigate issues.
Evaluate procurement (supplier) risk, soliciting stakeholder input, and leveraging tools and resources to develop security of supply risk mitigation plans
Own internal and external (supplier) corrective action requests, performing cause analyses and verifying completion of preventative and corrective actions
Supplier Development:
Perform technical evaluations of new and existing suppliers to assess manufacturing capability, capacity, process controls, compliance with applicable regulations, codes & standards, and associated risks
Identify gaps between supplier evaluations and Westinghouse technical / quality requirements and establish and im
Lead supplier development and qualification activities for new products, supplier improvement initiatives, and cost reduction efforts. This includes performing supplier development activities to establish or improve suppliers’ manufacturing processes and quality management systems to meet Westinghouse requirements.
Review and disposition supplier process documents, process capability analyses, measurement system analyses, input to design for manufacturability, etc.
Work with Design Engineering to ensure the integrity and clarity of engineering drawing requirements and that all expectations are communicated effectively to support suppliers.
Support implementation of Value Analysis / Value Engineering, Design for Assembly, and Design for Manufacturing principles during the design process.
Who You Are:
As a successful candidate, you will bring the following to the team:
Bachelor Degree or higher in Engineering
10+ years of progressive experience in engineering/manufacturing
Knowledge in manufacturing processes, e.g. electromechanical assembly, printed circuit boards, cable assemblies and harnesses, electrical cabinets, sensors, molding, testing, and inspection
Experience performing process capability analysis (Cpk) and qualification
Working knowledge of Manufacturing and Quality Plans, PFMEAs, etc.
Experience leading multiple, concurrent cross functional projects
Proficient at Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Project and Power Point
Experience authoring technical documents or operating procedures
Ability to read technical drawings and specifications
- Familiarity and experience with IPC / IEEE / ASME standards
- Experience with nuclear products and standards desired
