Are you passionate about leading initiatives to combat climate change and protect our environment? West Berkshire Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Team Leader to join our Climate Change Service. Reporting to the Environment Delivery Manager, you will play a crucial role in driving forward the Council's climate and ecological emergency agenda.

The Role

As the Team Leader for Climate and Ecological Emergency, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading a small team, delivering a big impact through delivering projects and initiatives aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions, promoting energy efficiency and renewable energy generation and enhancing biodiversity.
  • Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to identify and implement effective climate and ecological solutions.
  • Managing the delivery of grants and funding opportunities to support environmental projects.
  • Monitoring and reporting on progress towards climate and ecological targets.
  • Providing expert advice to Council members and other teams.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Extensive knowledge and experience in climate change action, energy efficiency and renewables and nature recovery.
  • Proven leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong project management abilities, with experience in delivering environmental initiatives.
  • Expertise in funding applications and grant management.
