Role Description

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer / Founding Engineer to join WENBO as one of our earliest technical team members.

This is a full-time, on-site role based in New York, NY. In this position, you will help design and build the core technical infrastructure behind WENBO’s sustainability platform, including our carbon tracking system, rewards engine, backend architecture, and digital integration with retail operations.

You will play a key role in building our “Green Engine” — the digital backbone that tracks environmental data, manages carbon-credit-based rewards, and supports the connection between our online platform and physical coffee retail experience.

As a founding technical member, you will work directly with the founding team to solve early-stage “zero-to-one” product and engineering challenges. This role is ideal for someone who is excited about building scalable systems from the ground up and wants to contribute to a mission-driven company at the intersection of Climate Tech, consumer retail, and digital rewards.


Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and scale backend systems that support WENBO’s digital platform and retail operations.

Build and maintain the core architecture for carbon tracking, user rewards, transaction records, and data management.

Develop algorithms and technical logic for carbon footprint calculation, carbon-credit rewards, and user engagement systems.

Ensure system security, reliability, scalability, and performance as the platform grows.

Collaborate closely with the founding team on product strategy, technical roadmap, and system design.

Integrate digital infrastructure with physical retail operations, including customer activity, purchase data, and rewards redemption.

Contribute to early-stage product decisions and help shape the technical foundation of the company.


Qualifications

5+ years of professional software development experience, with a strong focus on backend architecture and scalable systems.

Deep proficiency in one or more backend languages, such as Java, Python, C++, Node.js, or similar technologies.

Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, algorithms, data structures, system design, and database architecture.

Experience designing high-availability, secure, and scalable backend services.

Ability to solve complex technical problems in a fast-paced startup environment.

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.

Strong interest in Climate Tech, ESG, sustainability, consumer technology, or social impact innovation.


Preferred Qualifications

Experience with FinTech, digital wallets, ledger systems, rewards platforms, e-commerce, or loyalty programs.

Experience integrating software systems with physical retail, POS systems, IoT devices, or customer data platforms.

Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, APIs, distributed systems, and database optimization.

Prior startup experience or experience building products from zero to one.

Interest in coffee, sustainable consumer brands, or climate-focused business models.
