What We Do At Weir

We are a global leader in mining technology for a sustainable future. We help our customers extract the resources the world needs more efficiently and more sustainably. Our planet’s future depends on the transition to renewable energy, and that transition can only happen with the metals and minerals our customers deliver. So, we work side by side with mines across the globe to move less rock, use less energy, use water wisely, and create less waste. Together, we drive the shift to smart, efficient, and more sustainable mining.

Make your impact

Join Weir as a Business Analyst – Research and help shape the technologies that will define the future of our business. In this role, you’ll act as a bridge between business teams, engineering, operations, IT/OT, and the global innovation ecosystem. You’ll translate real operational challenges into scout-able requirements, identify and evaluate emerging technologies, and accelerate the right solutions from concept to scale. Your work will directly influence how Weir operates — improving cost, quality, throughput, safety, and sustainability across the organization.

What You’ll Do

  • Convert business pain points into measurable outcomes and clear, scout able problem statements
  • Build and manage a structured scouting funnel across priority technology themes, from long‑list to PoC candidates
  • Evaluate start‑ups and vendors using a structured scorecard covering problem fit, technical fit, operational fit, risk, and economics
  • Lead lightweight diligence on data security, IP, certifications, compliance, and vendor viability
  • Design and support PoCs and pilots, including charters, measurement plans, and value‑realization reporting
  • Maintain a single source of truth for scouting pipelines, evaluations, pilots, and adoption playbooks
  • Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world-class safety culture.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Data/Analytics, or related field (Master’s a plus)
  • 2–4 years’ experience in business analysis, technology evaluation, innovation, or consulting
  • Strong analytical capability, including TCO/ROI/NPV modelling, KPI development, and process mapping
  • Ability to translate business needs into structured requirements, measurable outcomes, and clear recommendations
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across technical and non‑technical teams
  • Familiarity with security/compliance basics, data privacy, and IP considerations
  • Experience in industrial R&D, manufacturing, mining, or complex engineering environments; exposure to TRL/stage‑gate, vendor assessment, or startup ecosystems (preferred)
  • Working knowledge of Excel/Power BI, statistics, Python, and collaboration tools such as SharePoint/Teams, Jira/Confluence, Azure DevOps, and innovation platforms

Applications will close 31 March 2026
