Civil Engineer
Civil/Wind Engineer 8-10 years of experience
We are seeking a Wind Engineer based in Colombia to join our team supporting international engineering, architectural, and renewable energy projects. This role is ideal for professionals with a strong engineering background, advanced data analysis skills, and experience working with wind and climate datasets.
You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across time zones, applying climate science and wind engineering principles to support the design of buildings, structures, and solar energy systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Define analytical scope and methodologies for wind and climate aspects of engineering projects.
- Identify and validate representative climate datasets for project sites, including quality control checks.
- Analyze historical datasets to identify extreme weather events and classify storm types.
- Perform statistical analyses such as parent distribution fitting and extreme value analysis for wind and snow data.
- Interpret wind loading provisions in building codes and standards.
- Recommend design wind speeds and climatic design parameters for buildings, structures, and solar arrays.
- Develop and improve analysis tools, techniques, and workflows.
- Prepare technical reports and communicate findings to engineers and clients.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience or a graduate degree in a related discipline.
- Knowledge of extreme weather processes and/or atmospheric boundary layer concepts.
- Proficiency in Python and/or MATLAB.
- Strong background in statistical analysis.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote, fast-paced environment.
- English level C1 or higher (required).
Nice to Have
- Experience in renewable energy or solar projects.
- Familiarity with wind and climate provisions in building codes.
- Experience with GIS tools, databases, or SQL.
