Position Title: Intern, Communications (6 months internship)
Location: London, UK or Berlin, Germany (hybrid working set-up)
Reports to: Managing Deputy Director, Content
Hours per week (average): Full-time
About our organization
We Mean Business Coalition is a coalition of 7 non-profit organizations and 50+ partner organizations that unites the voice of thousands of businesses that are taking climate action. We provide a platform for businesses to demonstrate climate leadership through 4As: ambition, action, advocacy and accountability.
We advocate for bold climate policy through international fora (G7, G20, COP and other) and G20 countries to unlock business action. Our new strategy includes three foundational areas: Voice, Policy and Business Mobilization and three thematic areas: electrification, SME Climate hub and Beyond (market approaches to decarbonization).
Position Summary
Strategic communications is central to driving the success of the Coalition. The We Mean Business Coalition secretariat’s communications team deploys leading-edge communications strategy and tactics to deliver on the Coalition’s overarching goals.
We are seeking an Intern, Communications to join our high-performing, remote team.
Responsibilities & Tasks
Digital content support
- Update website content, including press releases, events, and videos
- Support routine digital and social media reporting
- Research and gather content for newsletters and blogs
- Create social media graphics using Canva and support YouTube content management
- Draft and schedule emails, including event invitations and new report announcements
Team and administrative support
- Provide general support to the communications team
- Organise and maintain the communications filing system for improved efficiency
- Support scheduling and preparation for partner calls and meetings (e.g. Comms Working Group)
- Assist with project coordination tasks
Media and reporting support
- Support media monitoring and analysis using Meltwater
- Contribute to reports and trend analysis
Skills & Approach
- Digital savvy and comfortable working with websites, social media platforms, and email
- Well organised, with the ability to keep files, calendars, and tasks in good order
- Basic design or content creation skills, such as using Canva for social media graphics
- An interest and aptitude in digital communications, media, or content creation, with a willingness to learn
- Excellent written communication skills and attention to detail
- Ability to follow instructions, manage time, and meet deadlines
- A self-starter able to work independently for some of the working week
- A positive, collaborative approach and readiness to support the team across a range of tasks
Experience & Education
- Bachelor’s degree (preferably in marketing, journalism, communications or public relations)
- Fluent English required (and is our main language used), other language skills are a plus.
- Experience working with corporate audiences, and/or on climate change, is a plus.
- Demonstrate knowledge on priority themes that WMBC works on, including clean energy and corporate sustainability.
