What You’ll Do

  • Climate Risk Assessment & Reporting: Deliver WaterNSW’s climate risk assessment and report on the implementation of mitigation and adaptation actions, ensuring alignment with the NSW Climate Risk Ready Guide and operating licence requirements and support the tracking and reporting required for climate-related financial disclosures.
  • Governance & Compliance: Establish and maintain governance frameworks for climate risk management, ensuring transparency, accountability, and alignment with regulatory and enterprise standards.
  • Risk Management: Identify, assess, and ensure climate-related risks are being managed across the organisation; embedding approved mitigation and adaptation strategies into planning and operations and whilst ensuring WaterNSW meets our climate risk management maturity level targets, as required by our Operating Licence.
  • Climate Risk Management Integration: Integrate climate risk actions with WaterNSW’s business and digital strategies, drive ongoing improvement based on industry developments and climate science in collaboration with industry partners, and build internal capability through targeted training and resources.
  • Stakeholder Management: Manage stakeholder expectations around limited financial and human resourcing available to support climate change mitigation actions/proactive opportunities and ensuring the organisation remains aligned to Board decisions in that regard.

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in environmental science, climate science, engineering, risk management, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering climate risk assessments and implementing mitigation/adaptation actions in line with regulatory or enterprise frameworks.
  • Experience working with government agencies, industry, and research partners on climate-related initiative and familiarity with regulatory compliance requirements
  • Strong understanding of climate risk frameworks, particularly the NSW Government’s Climate Risk Ready Guide and knowledge of enterprise risk management principles and their application to climate-related risks.
  • Experience leading cross-functional projects or programs, including stakeholder engagement and reporting to executive or regulatory bodies with the ability to translate complex climate risk concepts into actionable insights for diverse audiences.
  • Current NSW Driver’s Licence.
