Role

 

We are seeking an experienced Sales Agronomist (Lead / Manager) to lead our Agronomy activities and manage field officers in the sales of biochar to farmers, agricultural producers and government agencies.

 

At our 5 facilities in Central and East Java we produce and sell high-quality biochar that delivers great agricultural (increase in yields by up to 95% and decrease in fertilizer by up to 50%) and climate (carbon removal) benefits.

 

We are currently growing our Biochar Sales team and our looking to hire the Manager of the team to grow the sales activities given our recent biochar production growth. This person will be responsible for the management of the sales field officers and the overall biochar sales activities to farmers. Additionally, this person will manage the company’s Agronomy studies and demoplots, engage with ministries and local governments on Agronomy topics, support larger clients on Agronomy consulting etc.

 

The person should be based in Central or East Java (e.g. Semarang, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Malang) and be willing to travel across Central and East Java for around 50% time.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead the company’s Agronomy activities including biochar sales, Agronomy studies and demoplots, engagement with corporate and government partners etc.
  • Manage the team of sales field officers in the sales of biochar to farmers, agricultural producers and government agencies.
  • Develop, implement and continuously improve the most effective marketing and sales strategies, plans and tactics.
  • Ensure the achievement of monthly and annual biochar sales targets / KPIs for the company overall and each sales field officer.
  • Develop Agronomy materials and studies as required.
  • Support the team in the carbon credits generation activities.
  • Collaborate closely with Operations and Commercial teams as required.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Agro-Business or -Technology, Agricultural Engineering or related field from a leading university.
  • English proficiency.
  • Min. 5 years of experience of selling agricultural inputs to farmers, providing agronomy advice, conducting trainings etc.
  • Min. 3 years of managing teams of sales field officers (10 or more) selling agricultural inputs to farmers.
  • Impressive proven track record of selling agricultural inputs to farmers and reaching monthly and annual sales targets / KPIs.
  • Working knowledge of effective marketing and sales tactics, and demand generation activities.
  • Strong connections and relationships with local governments, distributors, farmers communities etc. in Central and East Java.
  • Understanding and knowledge of biochar would be beneficial.
  • Strong communication, sales, team management and project management skills.
  • Passion for climate technology and sustainability.
  • Willingness to travel across Central and East Java for around 50% time.
