Field Engineer - Solar/Renewables

As a Field Engineer, you'll travel to various construction sites, playing a key role in shaping the renewable power infrastructure of tomorrow.

Your primary responsibilities will involve inspecting and monitoring construction activities to ensure they align with design blueprints and meet all necessary specifications and codes. Your attention to detail will be invaluable as you identify significant issues and collaborate with project management to resolve challenges.

Location & Travel Details: This traveling position requires you to be away from home up to 100% of the time, as you may be placed on project sites across the United States. Typically, you'll spend 8-12 months on each project. We offer a designated daily per diem in addition to base pay to help cover your living expenses while on the road. Regular travel back home during your assignment is also provided, and you'll receive a monthly vehicle allowance.

  • Promote and adhere to company safety policies and procedures.
  • Inspect and ensure quality of work on large-scale wind and solar projects.
  • Confirm construction work aligns with design documents.
  • Review inspection reports and communicate any failures.
  • Ensure materials comply with approved submittals and site specifications.
  • Conduct surveying and measuring for roadways and structures.
  • Organize daily activities to accurately record quality control data.
  • Monitor work scope and prepare comprehensive daily reports.
  • Prevent deficiencies through pre-construction inspections.
  • Collaborate with management to ensure compliance with quality requirements.
  • Assist with compiling operations and maintenance manuals.
  • Ensure compliance with inventory processes for materials.
  • Establish and manage punch lists for completed work.
  • Participate in daily validation of calibrated tools and equipment.
  • Utilize construction management software for inspections and documentation.
  • Mentor and train Quality Inspectors as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Field Engineer I: Compensation $65,000-$70,000/year. Associates or Bachelor's degree preferred; 2 or more years' related experience required.
  • Field Engineer II: Compensation $70,000-$80,000/year. Associates or Bachelor's degree and 1-2 years' related experience required.
  • Field Engineer III: Compensation $80,000-$90,000/year. Associates or Bachelor's degree and 2-3 years' related experience required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong commitment to health and safety.
  • Self-starter with excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and construction management software.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage tasks independently.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents.

Working Environment:

  • Flexible with hours, including overtime and night shifts.
  • Exposure to hazards at job sites requiring safety precautions.
  • Comfortable with physical demands of the job involving climbing and manual tasks.
