Master's Thesis worker, Nuclear reactor analysis
Are you all about science and technology? Would you like to work in a meaningful role with real responsibility and excellent learning opportunities? Do you want to work with superb colleagues who are experts in their field to drive a sustainable future and tackle the greatest challenges of our time? VTT might be just the place for you.
VTT is one of the leading applied research organisations in Europe. What unites us are curiosity, a passion for learning, and a purpose: to solve the biggest challenges of our time and turn them into sustainable growth and well-being. Our cross-disciplinary community of over 2400 brilliant minds from 60 different nationalities focuses on creating impact through science-based innovation. In recent years, we have created ground-breaking innovations such as the world's fastest and most accurate radiation detector, a cancer-sniffing sensor device for smartphones, and a headphone set entirely made of microbial materials. Get to know us further by exploring VTT's tech & infra .
We are now looking for a Master’s Thesis worker to join our Reactor analysis team. Join us - and let’s make an impact together!
Our team works on the computational modelling of operating nuclear reactors. This involves solving a coupled problem between neutronics, heat transfer and the mechanical behaviour of nuclear fuel. For the purpose of these analyses, we are developing the Kraken framework, which combines state-of-the-art and beyond computational methods with a versatile Python-based coupling platform. Development of calculation tools supports building the expertise needed for ensuring safe and sustainable use of nuclear energy.
Your Master’s Thesis work is related to the thermal-hydraulic solution in the multi-physics coupling. The work involves developing a new solver module based on the OpenFOAM Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) toolkit. In this position, you will have an essential role in Kraken development.
Your responsibilities as a Master’s Thesis worker:
Please send your CV and application with your salary request via our recruitment system as soon as possible, but at the latest by 14 December 2025. We will process applications and start interviews already during the application period, and fill the position as soon as we find the right candidate. A security clearance procedure will be conducted for the chosen candidate.
Our Master's Thesis traineeships are paid, and the salary is determined based on study credits: for Master's students, the monthly salary is between 2650€ and 2850€.
