As Fabrication Shop Supervisor you will be responsible for the daily operations of the fabrication shop, ensuring efficient and effective production of welded assemblies according to ASME IX by assigning tasks to individuals, monitoring quality, maintaining safety standards, and adhering to production schedules. Included is production problem solving, identifying areas of improvement and resource optimization.

Essential Role and Responsibilities

  • Ensuring that production processes are in line with company standards and regulatory requirements
  • Ensuring the accuracy and completion of necessary documentation to company quality and production standards and for regulatory compliance.
  • Communicating expectations to production team members and evaluating their performance
  • Assigns work to department personnel to attain department objectives using knowledge of production processes, company policies, production schedules, work orders, equipment capacity and employee capabilities.
  • Responsible for meeting production demands in alignment with Company objectives.
  • Readily perceives and effectively responds to schedules and product flows essential to supervising manufacturing operations.
  • Recommend and initiate improvements to production processes, to increase manufacturing efficiency.
  • Ensure safe and efficient workflow of the fabrication shop.
  • Compiling reports about production and providing management with updates
  • Ensuring all resources and assets are used efficiently and correctly
  • Responsible for compliance with safety and housekeeping requirements.
  • Facilitates and promotes company policy and the company Quality Improvement program within all department work groups.
  • Provides training, support, direction and guidance to department personnel to continually develop their work habits, job skills and safety practices.
  • Provides objective feedback for continued employee growth.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of fabrication processes, including welding, cutting, and assembly techniques.
  • Leadership Abilities: Proven experience in managing and motivating a team.
  • Quality Focus: Commitment to maintaining high quality standards.
  • Problem-solving Skills: Ability to identify and resolve production issues efficiently.
  • Safety Awareness: Deep understanding of safety protocols and procedures.
  • Communication Skills: Effective communication with team members, management, and other departments.
  • Experience in working within an ISO Quality Management System or similar experience.
  • Experience in KPI metrics to meet overall Production objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, production management, mechanical engineering, or similar.
  • 5 years minimum supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Computer literate with experience using an ERP system
  • Read and interpret weld processes according to AWS and ASME section IX.
  • Practical knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment required.
