Agricultural greenhouses are key toward a sustainable food supply, however they have significant energetic needs due to heating and artificial lightening. There is a push from governments, retailers and consumers to reduce carbon footprint of greenhouses. Voltiris enables double-use of large greenhouses surfaces to produce electricity without impacting their high agricultural yield. Voltiris introduces a solar panel design to generate electricity from the part of sunlight's spectrum that is unused for crop growth.

Mission

Voltiris develops solar energy solutions for agriculture, enabling the dual use of land for food production and clean energy. Recently ranked as the 4th top startup in Switzerland, we are scaling our project portfolio across Switzerland, France, and the Netherlands.

 

Role Overview

As Senior Project Developer, you will independently own behind-the-meter solar (PV + BESS) projects from early-stage assessment through commissioning, with a strong focus on technical planning. You will work closely with sales, engineering, and external stakeholders to ensure projects are technically and economically sound.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Own solar PV and BESS projects from pre-feasibility through commissioning, with minimal supervision

  • Drive internal electrical planning knowledge (AC PV, BESS, Low-/Medium-Voltage grid connection)

  • Lead grid connection applications, BESS permitting, and utility coordination

  • Provide quote-backed cost estimates and technical inputs for offers and financial models

  • Coordinate internal and external stakeholders (client, electrician, suppliers, utilities, partners)

  • Lead and challenge technical and economic feasibility studies

  • Act as technical sounding board and mentor for the team

  • Set up and own project development processes and standards (stage gates, handovers) as we scale

 

Skills & Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent hands-on experience (grid connection, PV systems, electrical design) – required

  • 5+ years in renewable energy project development, with PV and/or BESS projects taken through construction incl. strong technical ownership

  • Deep practical knowledge of how projects are built and what they cost

  • Strong technical and financial understanding of renewable energy projects

  • Proven end-to-end ownership of complex, multi-stakeholder projects

  • Proficiency in English (required); Fluent German or Dutch (required); French (a plus). Experience with CAD (2D & 3D) or scripting (e.g. Python) is an advantage
